January 6, 2009 by Scott
Tony Iommi recently issued an update concerning progress on the recording of the new Heaven And Hell Album:
Heaven And Hell Recording Update
November 29, 2008 by Scott
Heaven And Hell, pretty much the Ronnie James Dio version of Black Sabbath , have entered the recording studio and the new release is expected out in the early part of 2009. They will also be touring in support of the new album and tour dates have been scheduled so far for Hellfest and Swedish Rock Festival. Iommi told Billboard.com the reason they are touring under the name Heaven and hell instead of Black Sabbath in this statement:

Every go to a karaoke bar and some dumb-ass gets up there, trying to be funny and butchers a hard rock or metal tune just so all his prep buddies can get a good laugh at him, screaming like a maniac and changing the lyrics to the typical crap that people think heavy metal is all about? I have seen it a few times. I’ve also seen people get up there in all seriousness and sing karaoke to song that you really liked…up until they maimed it and you can never listen to that song again. So what do …read more
The Scrap Metal Report 7/30
July 30, 2008 by Scott
Time for another quick Scrap Metal Report. I went to see the Brooklyn, NY based band Early man last night so I’m kind of tired after getting home at 1 am and getting up for work at 6am. You’ll see the results of that here in a bit. Let’s get started so maybe IO can get a good night’s sleep. Sleep? Who needs that, right? I do. It’s going to be a long day Friday at Mayhem Fest and If I don’t catch up a little tonight I’ll be draggin’ ass in Virgina Beach.

Ride For Dime Dio Scammer Foiled
March 28, 2008 by Scott
As some of you may have heard on Blabbermouth, some scum bag that went by the alias Doug Goldstein has been contacting organizations and venues claiming to be a representative for the great Ronnie James Dio. He tried scamming the Ride For Dime charity and Alabama concert promoter Mat Raymond, offering up the Dio act for clubs and venues and the obvious Ride For Dime Charity event. Both parties put down a deposit check for the chance to have Dio perform at their events and the Ride For Dime even announced that Dio would be part of the show but later …read more

Holy crap, 2008 is here already. Where does the time go. Another year another year older my decrepit ass is. 2007 was a fun filled roller-coaster of madness, but here we are. It’s time for a whole new shitty year. A new president will be elected, “W” will finally be out and we can look forward to a whole new screwed up situation come ‘09. Speaking of…I’m about tired of hearing the word Caucus. Anyway, time to unload the garbage…

It’s channel wide List time again and this months idea was artists you’d invite to your office xmas party.
Ok, so let’s say your office…or wherever you may work has a Christmas party. Let’s just say that your boss says you can invite ten of your favorite metal artists to the festives. British Invasion: Black Sabbath
November 12, 2007 by Scott
I figured I’d start the British Invasion week out with the band most call the pioneers of Heavy Metal. Honestly, what can I say about Black Sabbath that hasn’t already been said.
Black Sabbath originated out of Birmingham England in 1968 as a blues and rock band under the names Polka Tulk Blues Company and Earth. Later changing their name to Black Sabbath after Tony Iommi wrote a song called the aforementioned name when confused with another local band called Earth.
This is where I’m going to stop this history…because if you don’t know the history of the band then you either …read more

October 3, 2007 by Scott
I’m going to start this segment monthly, maybe bi-weekly. What’s in your cd player. Simple enough. I’m going to post what has been hot in my CD player as of late and I would like to see what Metal Martyr readers are listening to a lot. Here goes.
Chamaira: Ressurection. I just got this yesterday. I’m not quite sure what to think of it yet. I’m hoping it will grow on me a bit more but so far I’m not really impressed
Shadows Fall: The war within. I love this CD from beginning to end
Dio: Metal Hits. Got it at Wal-mart for …read more
