I’m Just Not Down With The Sickness

I’m Just Not Down With The Sickness

I’m going to share a little story with you really quick. About two and a half years ago I was driving down the street when I see something off of the side of the road. I stopped hoping that it’s one of those cash bags that a pizza delivery person might have left on top of their car on their way to the bank late at night and maybe it slipped off and it’s full of cash. Unfortunately it wasn’t. What it was, was a caselogic book full of cds. Unfortunately it was full of a bunch of garbage …read more

The Grammy’s Were Disturbing For David Draimen

The Grammy’s Were Disturbing For David Draimen

Blabbermouth reports that Disturbed front man, David Draimen thinks the Grammy’s don’t give Rock it’s due. I think he’s the first person to ever say that…really! These dudes are standing there like they’re on some shitty made-for-T.V. version of The Matrix. “I know Kung Faux!”

Trivium And Amon Amarth Land On Billboard 200

Who ever said metal would never be big was a complete fool. Both Trivium and Amon Amarth have landed in the top 50 of the Billboard 200. Look at it this way. These metal bands are all in the top 100. There may be more.

Metallica – Death Magnetic
Slipknot – All Hope Is Gone
All That Remains – Overcome
Disturbed – Indestructible
Underoath – Lost In Separation
All Shall Perish – Awaken The Dreamers

So metal is pretty much kickin ass on the billboard charts as far as album sales go. Both Twilight Of The Thunder God and Shogun are great albums, so it …read more

Dragonforce And Disturbed At Mayhem Fest

Dragonforce And Disturbed At Mayhem Fest

Taking my 10 year old son along to Mayhem Fest was something that was only planned about a week before going. I had some reservations about taking him along because he can get kind of restless and doesn’t like to be out in the heat very long. I can’t blame him, I don’t like it much either. He was really good though. I told him to stay close and walk fast and he did both. He was a trooper that day and I’m very proud of him. It was his first metal concert and he said he had a …read more

The Scrap Metal Report 8/4/08

The Scrap Metal Report 8/4/08

A few things happened over the weekend so I’m going to take a short break from the Mayhem Fest updates to catch up a bit and then I have the last two with pictures and video.
The Cavalera Conspiracy has been deemed inappropriate for Priestfest in Australia and New Zealand, so any dates they had with Judas Priest in those two countries have been canceled.
Metallica announce an official date for their Death Magnetic release of September 16th, The same day as All That Remains release their 4th album, Overcome. The ‘World Wide’ release date is the 12…so I’m sure it will …read more

Not So Quick June Re-cap.

Not So Quick June Re-cap.

What? One lousy update yesterday? Yeah, I know. That’s not like me but I had a few things in order that I had to take care of last night. So let’s go over June really quick.
I went to see Dark Tranquility, Divine Heresy, Firewind and Soldiers Of Scrape on the Tyranny And Bloodshred tour…minus the tyranny. That was a bad ass show. I’ll announce the winner of the autographed Bleed The Fifth CD tonight.
Withered’s new album Folie Circulaire came out on the 17th, an extremely heavy and noisy album to say the least, but it’s one of those that just grows …read more

Dan Donegan Is No Eddie

Dan Donegan Is No Eddie

When I saw this cover of Guitar World Magazine I thought it was kind of insulting to Iron Maiden. If they gave Guitar World permission to do it then I question Iron Maiden’s credibility, but I doubt that’s the case and I also doubt they needed permission. I don’t think Dan Donegan is a bad guitar player at all. I just don’t dig this mockery (Or tribute whatever they want to call it) of a classic Iron Maiden work of art. Now if it was Dave Murray or Adrian Smith that would be a different story.
Check out Ironmaidenwallpaper.com/edart.html for some …read more
