10 Metal Albums That Survived The Grunge Era
April 20, 2009 by Scott
The early to mid 1990’s delivered a harsh blow the heavy metal. Grunge overshadowed heavy metal but thankfully did us all a favor by killing the glam-rock era. While a lot of metal bands continued to release solid metal albums, they still had grunge to deal with in both marketing and touring.
I was in my mid teens, working as a dishwasher during the time. My coworkers were all in to the grunge thing and were neo-hippies to boot. We had a prep room where we would prep food and had a cd player in there to listen to …read more

October 24, 2008 by Scott
IGN.Com, a video game site recently published a post on the 10 Best Death Metal Singers and I must say that it is a hell of a list. I couldn’t agree more with it. Take a peak at the list below, but visit the site to get their insight on them, essential albums and a song/video from the band. My 10 picks aren’t much different, but when you put together a list like they did, it’s tough not to pick some of the same ones.

Lars Göran Petrov – Entombed

Old School Review: Grave ‘And Here I Die…Satisfied’
September 29, 2008 by Scott
In 1996 I was on my way back to Quantico Virginia from upstate New York during my 4 years in the Marine Corps and I decided to stop at a mall in Utica, NY to see what the record store had. I bought a cd that I had been looking for (I think it might have been Misfits Collection 1 or 2) and had a few more bucks to spare so I picked up a 6 song EP from a band that I had heard of but never heard. The name was Grave. How could you go wrong with …read more

Classic Metal Video: Entombed Wolverine Blues
One of my all time favorite videos to a bad ass song. It’s not fancy, it’s not overdone..it’s Entombed and it’s Wolverine Blues. This record was an instant classic released in 1993. Enjoy!
Heavy Metal Poisoning…What Would You Recommend?
January 13, 2008 by Scott
When it comes to the basics of Metal there are the staple foods of heavy metal that everyone should experience. If I was to recommend some bands the a metal newcomer that is new to the music and has had his/her interest peaked by a band or two, I would recommend the basics. The basics being like I said the “staple food” of a head banger. Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Danzig, etc., etc. However I would also recommend some not metal artists Like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd just to give the person …read more

Old School Review: Entombed- Wolverine Blues
Entombed: Wolverine Blues
Released: 1993 Earache
I first heard the song “Wolverine Blues” on Headbangers ball back in late ‘93 and was instantly a fan. A week or two later co-worker had given me some money to pick up a few CD’s. The next day I went to a small local record stare and was picking up the CD’s for him and saw Wolverine Blues in the newer releases and only picked up one of the CD’s he wanted and ended up spending the rest of his money on this CD and Carcass’s “Heartwork”.
