OK, this ha$ got to be the $tupide$t thing I have ever heard…now we can officially call Ki$$ a manufactured band like a boy band or a brand name. Read one from blabbermouth:

During a familiar rant by Simmons about how KISS could go on forever, Roy Hilmar Svendsen of Norway’s NRK asked jokingly if the band would consider looking for replacements for Simmons and Stanley in a TV show, similar to programs like “Rock Star” and “American Idol“.

“The answer is yes. The deal has just been signed,” Simmons replied. “It’s coming soon.”

Gene Simmons and a group of young ladies arrived in a limo at a San Diego 7-Eleven yesterday to promote Frank’s Energy Drink.

You may recall the controversial sex tape of Gene and a model from Frank’s Energy drink that he claimed could be decades old…so that would make Frank’s Energy Drink decades old and the model also decades older than she was then. I’m glad Franks Energy Drink is an equal opportunity employer that allows older models to be a part of their product. I wonder if he downed a can of Frank’s before his sexual endeavor so he could keep the little demon going.

Gene was quoted saying: “This is actually a better product, everybody talks about energy drinks but usually they’re just cough medicine,” said Simmons. “This is something that’s actually pasteurized. It’s Austrian and there are different flavors.”

I think your brain has been pasteurized, Gene. Cough medicine, eh? I didn’t know that! Next time I have a bad chest cold I’m going to go out and buy all sorts of energy drinks…but not Frank’s..because that is NOT cough medicine. I’ve drank my share of energy drinks and none of them have resembled or even tasted like cough medicine. I mean Monster tastes like shit but not like Nyquil.

According to Blabbermouth.net Gene Simmons has made a statement about the alleged sex tape. Here is a few short excerpts.

Photos on the site promoting the sex video show the couple going at it in several positions, with Simmons keeping his shirt on (and his pants around his ankles) and the woman wearing lingerie.

In a message posted on his web site, Simmons writes, “Hi everyone. You may have heard or seen garbage that has sprung up from my past. Rest assured the proper legal team is looking at all ramifications and options.

What does all this mean? It means that Gene is one classy dude when it comes to casual sex. Pants around the ankles and shirt still on…that’s what I call looooove makin’ 1-0-1! So it is true and what he means by the legal team looking into all ramifications and options is that he wants the person that made this available to pay. Pay him that is. He’s gonna throw the Kiss logo and that video and sell it. What should he call it? Love Gun? Doctor Love? Any suggestions?

If anything the internet has made music thrive. It has given the little bands a chance to shine. People don’t want another epic “super band”, especially metal fans. I may be speaking for myself but we like the fact that there are a shit-load of great metal bands out there to listen to as opposed to one to five bands dominating the genre. Sure we still have Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest (just to name a few) that are still going strong and have a huge fan base, but we also have so many smaller named bands that keep out iPods filled and our heads banging. Even in the pop industry the bands don’t last long enough to be “The Next Big thing”. You see how the labels have dropped the American Idol stars. It is and always has been a vicious industry.

With more and more bands going to independent labels and even making their own labels it seems to me that the bands are taking the industry back. Recording is a lot easier these days and can often be done in home studios with technological advances, it’s too easy. With smaller labels the bands get less pressure to change their sound, often making for a better band and better records without losing the fans that made them. If your doing it because you want to make millions then your doing it for the wrong reasons in the first place. Everyone wants to get paid for their art and services but if you go into it with the mentality that your going to get rich from it then your just lying to yourself. There is a lot less money for the bands these days without the huge label support and advances but I think it helps make the bands remember where they came from and how and why they started.

Kiss got huge with a handful of great hits, a gimmick and marketing genius. Now it’s all marketing for them. Their music to them now is just another tool to sell merchandise. Gene has obviously forgotten who put him where he is. The fans. The same fans that are PAYING for Kissology after Kissology just to watch old boring interviews, repetitive video clips and songs recycled to better fit the times.

There are too many great bands out there to worry about “The Next Big Thing”.

Holy crap, 2008 is here already. Where does the time go. Another year another year older my decrepit ass is. 2007 was a fun filled roller-coaster of madness, but here we are. It’s time for a whole new shitty year. A new president will be elected, “W” will finally be out and we can look forward to a whole new screwed up situation come ‘09. Speaking of…I’m about tired of hearing the word Caucus. Anyway, time to unload the garbage…

Gene Simmons is on The Apprentice Celebrity edition and he helped his team win last night. Since it’s all for charity I guess I’ll leave Gene alone…for now.

Former Dio Guitarist Craig Goldy wants to share his vast knowledge of the record industry…that is probably old and out dated. Here’s some knowledge I have of the record industry, It’s a dying institution unless they adapt to the internet.

Metallica’s Black Album is one of the top ten selling elbums of the “Sound Scan” era, a bunch of people on Blabbermouth.net argue about it, blah-blah-blah…who really cares.

Sebastian Bach still thinks his record is the greatest thing since Chinese Democracy and Phil Anselmo lists Downs new record in his own top 5 of 2007. This goes to show that neither artists are truly sober just yet.

In Non-Metal related news…Amy Winehouse continues to make Courtney Love look like a model citizen and Britney Spears has been giving her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears some parental advice!

How much repetitive shit can you sell to fans that know no better than to keep shoveling out money for the same crap over and over. I think their merchandise sells more than their music does. Honestly, of all the Kiss records how many songs are actually really good? They have spent the last 30 years playing the same hits that made them big in the first place and sometimes trying to transform those same songs into a new version to follow the sound of whats hot at the moment. I can’ t believe it took me this long to figure it out. How naive can I (We) be? I’ve been thinking about this for some time now, this is just the first time I thought I would let it out!
