Doc Coyle Speaks On Brother, Dallas Coyle’s Split From God Forbid

Metal Injection had the privilege of attending the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival and got a bunch of interviews. One of those interviews was with God Forbid’s Doc Coyle, obvious brother of departed member Dallas Coyle.

Dallas has been quite adamant about keeping details of the split to himself. Doc also keeps the details to a minimum but gives a little in this interview with Rob from Metal Injection.

God Forbid Rumors: No Rumors, No April Fools Prank

The rumors that God Forbid Guitarist, Dallas Coyle had left the band earlier this week have proved to be true and not just some elaborate April Fools prank as most people hoped for. The outspoken guitar player spoke exclusively with Metalsucks.net whom he has had a close relationship with for some time now.

Dallas would like the metal community to know that his split from the band has nothing to do with any familial issues with his brother, but that he has decided to leave the band for personal reasons. Beyond that, he wishes to remain quiet at the time and asks that his privacy be respected.

Earlier in the week, his brother, Doc Coyles released a statement as well, stating that there was a disagreement and that Dallas says that he doesn’t want to tour anymore. They’ve recruited former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris to fill Dallas’ shoes for their tour. All I can really say to all of this is; Shit.

In the meantime we have a video teaser of God Forbid’s upcoming video for “War Of Attrition” from Mtv.

God Forbid One Coyle Down

Rumors have been circulating that outspoken God Forbid guitarist Dallas Coyle has left the band after it was announced that he’ll be sitting out their upcoming No Fear Energy Music tour with Lamb Of God. There is nothing out there yet confirming these rumors to be true that he has indeed left the band permanently but they are looking to recruit a replacement while he sits this one out. I imagine we’ll hear something on Metalsucks in the near future about this if Dallas does his “Hard R” blog. As far as I know, Dallas and his wife recently had a child (within the last year or so, I’m not sure) so maybe he wants to take some time off and support his wife and spend some time with his family.

Lamb Of God Forbid: EarthsWrath News

A week later and as usual we have some chart and sales results for two great albums. We all expected Lamb Of God’s Wrath to sell well and sold well it did. I mean, it didn’t sell Slipknot or Metallica well, but it still did pretty good selling around 68k copies and landing the album in the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 charts, losing that number 1 spot to Taylor Swift. Sadly this is only about 5k more than they sold during the first week of Sacrament’s release. This could be attributed to the economy or the fact that the album leaked a month before it was scheduled to drop

God Forbid’s Earthsblood didn’t do so well, only selling about 5600 copies but still enough to land them on the Billboard 200 at # 110. I think once they get on tour with Lamb Of God and on the Rockstar Mayhem Festival people will hear this album and want it. Either that or people are just downloading the hell out of this album. Unfortunately God Forbid is subject to people hating them in forums and discrediting them, even using racist words against them. But you have to ignore all that and check out this album! Most metal fans that bought a cd last week probably opted for the Lamb Of God, which I can understand, but I will stand by my opinion that THIS album is better than Wrath. Forget all the metalcore labels and everything that surrounds this band and LISTEN-TO-THE-ALBUM! It’s heavy, it’s thrashy and it’s catchy. I don’t know how many times I have to say it, Earthsblood kills!

A Few Things On This Last Day Of February 2009

Holt crap! One down, 10 to go already. I have a feeling this year is going to fly by faster than 2008. Today I’m supposed to be in Atlanta Georgia covering Scion Rock Fest. Due to my desire to move back to upstate NY I have decided that I need to save some money for the big move and going to Scion Rock Fest would put a big dent in my savings.

Lamb Of God

The new album is out and in case you haven;t picked it up yet, spend the extra dollar and buy the deluxe edition that comes with “The Studio Experience”. The Studio Experience is just like the Sacrament tour edition that comes with the individual tracks to play with on various recording programs. Have fun with it.

God Forbid

I can’t get over how much I love this new Earthsblood album. You can save a few bucks by checking to see if your local Wal Mart is carrying it. I got mine for 9 bucks there. It also comes with a live cd from The Starland Ballroom in NJ. Don’t think I’m kissing these guys asses for whatever reason, this album is just that good in my opinion. I have no affiliation with God Forbid or Century Media.

Mastodon

I’m kind of upset because I’m going to miss Mastodon at Scion Rock Fest. The new album is an amazing progress and it’s just what they said it is, more of a classic rock feel, but in a great Mastodon way. After hearing it I decided that I haven’t heard nearly enough Mastodon so I downloaded Leviathan, Remission and Call Of The Mastodon on iTunes. I probably could have used that money for Scion, but damn. I have Blood Mountain and just never got around to giving the other album a good listen. I’ve tried before but I have to stop sampling from listening stations in FYE because they really suck and don’t give you a good feel for the music. I’ve been missing out on these great Mastodon albums. I’ll get more in to Crack The Skye closer to the release date.

God Forbid’s Earthblood Is Out And It’s Awesome

Despite the bullshit you see around the web from comments in various blogs and message boards, the new God Forbid album is great. I really didn’t get in to this band until I bought God Forbi IV: The Constitution OF Treason and after hearing War Of Attrition from Earthsblood, I knew I had to have it. Either that or I’ve been visiting Metalsucks.net way too much and they have brainwashed me in to liking this band. All B.S. aside, even if you have never been in to God Forbid before, give this album a listen.

Scrap Metal Report 2/10/2009

A slight case of sleeplessness brings you this early edition of the Scrap Metal Report today. Just a few things to run down in the news.

God Forbid are streaming their entire new record, Earthsblood on their Myspace. Earthsblood sees it’s release on century Media on February 24th.

Hatebreed guitarist Sean Martin has decided to resign from his duties in the Connecticut hardcore band. No details on the circumstances of is decision but there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood. Original guitarist Wayne Lozinak will step back in to the band to fill Sean’s vacant spot.

Tool Guitarist Adam Jones and Bass player Justin Chancellor have started to write new material for the follow up to 2006’s 10,000 Days. No word yet on any estimated time frame for that release.

Iron Maiden’s last show of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/’09 will be at Ft. Lauderdale Florida. This will close out this epic tour and will be the first time Maiden has played in Florida in 13 years.

Lastly, I have 2 pairs of tickets for Scion Rock Fest for February 28th in Atlanta, Georgia and only one request so far. I have to close this out at the end of the day, so if you want to go visit here and put your name in the hat.
