Old School Review: Grave ‘And Here I Die…Satisfied’
September 29, 2008 by Scott
In 1996 I was on my way back to Quantico Virginia from upstate New York during my 4 years in the Marine Corps and I decided to stop at a mall in Utica, NY to see what the record store had. I bought a cd that I had been looking for (I think it might have been Misfits Collection 1 or 2) and had a few more bucks to spare so I picked up a 6 song EP from a band that I had heard of but never heard. The name was Grave. How could you go wrong with …read more

In Memory Of Celtic Frost has some of the best songs by Celtic Frost covered by some of the greatest Metal, Black Metal and Death Metal bands. Bands such as Mayhem, Emporer, Grave, Opeth and Slaughter, just to name a few. If you’ve ever been …read more
Death Metal…WTF?
April 6, 2008 by Scott
When I was younger I used to love Death Metal. Bands like Deicide, Morbid Angel, Grave, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Obituary and Malevolent Creation were on a regular rotation in my cd player. A lot of things I used to hate about some Death Metal back then was the fact that the music was often overpowering the vocals. Not that you could understand half the shit they were saying unless you read and memorized the lyrics from the sleeve. These days a lot of Death Metal bands have the opposite problem. The vocals overpower the music and you can’t hear the …read more

If I was to recommend some bands the a metal newcomer that is new to the music and has had his/her interest peaked by a band or two, I would recommend the basics. The basics being like I said the “staple food” of a head banger. Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Danzig, etc., etc. However I would also recommend some not metal artists Like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd just to give the person …read more
