I hope Hitler doesn’t hear about this.

Metallica states:

“If you’ve been playing Guitar Hero on the Wii, you may have noticed that we were short a few songs when it came to ‘Death Magnetic’ – well no more! Our friends at Guitar Hero have been working long and hard with Nintendo so that Wii fans can now play the eight ‘Death Magnetic’ songs not previously available for that gaming system.

“Starting November 24, additional tracks from ‘Death Magnetic’ will be available as downloadable singles for 200 Wii points each. If you’re keeping score, that would be ‘All Nightmare Long’, ‘That Was Just Your Life’, ‘The Day That Never Comes’, ‘The Judas Kiss’, ‘The End Of The Line’, ‘The Unforgiven III’, ‘Suicide & Redemption J.H.’ and ‘Suicide & Redemption K.H.’ Enjoy!”

Thank you, Nintendo. I hope your consoles start randomly exploding in retaliation to having this crap played through them.

Of course with stupid articles saying that headbanging causes neck and brain damage, this “toy” would probably not get approved for sale for safety reasons. But you do have to laugh at the concept. I’m still not 100% sure that they are serious about this or if it’s just for fun. I just wish they would pick better songs to use. This has actually been out for a few months now. A B.C. Rich always has some of the coolest (or ugliest, depending on your taste) guitars on the market. The most “Metal” looking guitars anyway. The B.C. Both very uncomfortable to play in my opinion and from my experience you have to shell out a fat wad of cash to get an American made B.C. Rich in order to get a good sound out of it. Either that or drop in better pick-ups because their stock pickups are garbage.

Anyway, this thing goes for $89.99 on Amazon.com and as far as I can tell is only made for the Playstation 3.

Via Metallica.com, here is the complete set list for Guitar Hero: Metallica. I think they did a pretty good job putting together the set-list for the Metallica songs. Minimal St. Anger and Death Magnetic tracks make it well worth while. Most of it is Black Album and prior. Some of the other band songs are songs that they have covered, so that’s cool too. Guitar Hero: Metallica drops on March 29th. Check it out.

Apparently there will be some Slayer content on Guitar Hero: Metallica. I thought it was pretty cool on Guitar Hero 3 with Reign In Blood. For the haters of Guitar Hero, I say try it out. It’s a fun way to be a part of some of your favorite songs and might actually get you in to some other bands you haven’t heard of. My son loves it and we recently got Guitar Hero: World Tour for Christmas. I said before that it’s a great way for them to learn rhythm and timing and new music. World tour lacks in good song selection for a metal fan though.

According to Blabbermouth, Lar Ulrich told Game Informer Magazine that it wasn’t easy getting Slayer cleared for the game due to lyrical content.

“I’m super psyched we got SLAYER in there,” Ulrich said. “SLAYER’s got to be part of any heavy metal video game. There had been some issues with their lyrics. That gets into a whole slew of stuff like, ‘Microsoft won’t do it if this lyrical content is in there.’ There’s all this bullshit you have to deal with, but we stood up for SLAYER, and we finally got SLAYER cleared like a week ago.”

This kind of comes to a surprise to me after Tom Araya recently made some derogatory statements about Metallica and Death Magnetic, saying such things as:

When I heard the METALLICA album, it didn’t appeal to me at all. And all I could think about was, ‘Man, what happened?’

And

‘Hey, it’s not Rick Rubin. It’s the band. It’s what the band brings to the table. (Refering to Rick Ruben Producing Death Magnetic)

Perhaps Lars didn’t see those comments. What has me wondering is if Metallica are actually covering Slayer, Slayer playing their song or if it’s the Guitar Hero band (Whatever they’re called). Should be interesting. It also states that some of the other bands on the game will be Machine Head, Foo Fighters (I don’t know how the hell they got on a “Metal” video game) and Alice In Chains among other bands.

It sits hidden in the closet while I try to restrain myself from pulling it out, putting it together and giving it a try while he’s at school. The best thing about the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games besides the fact that they are a blast to play is that they get kids interested in music and bands of the past and present. Sometimes it even gets them interested in learning a real instrument.

Hal Leonard music books doesn’t only offer Guitar Hero Tab but Rock Band Tab as well. You can pick these up at Amazon.com for $24.95 or less, each. There are various guitar tab websites where you can also learn tablature for probably all of these songs as well as online lessons, practice tab and downloads for GuitarPro, which is a great guitar tablature reading and writing software.

The best place I found for tab that has not been taken down is Ultimate-Guitar.com. If you are one of your children has an interest in learning to play guitar, Ultimate Guitar is a great resource.

Guitar Hero: World Tour will feature the possibility for you to download 10 songs from Death Magnetic to play along with. Seriously, I hope they shortened the songs for the gae because you’d think people would get tired from or get tired of playing those long-ass songs. Below is a 26 second trailer for Guitar Hero Metallica that is supposedly on Guitar Hero: World Tour. It’s kind of a crappy recording but it shows enough.
Lars Ulrich said he can’t wait for Guitar Hero: World Tour and it can only make him a better drummer! (ok, well he really didn’t say that…but maybe.)
