So many bands tour the world over and rarely get outside of the tour bus. They drink themselves into an oblivion and rarely get out and see the world around them. I read a post on Headbanger’s blog where they were talking about The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk about the new wave of deathcore and metalcore bands of today and how oblivious they are to the roots of where their sound comes from.
The Red Chord’s combination of death metal rhythms and hardcore screaming are clearly the kind of stuff deathcore bands have embraced, but Kozowyk’s main gripe is that the new breed are inexperienced, unskilled and unfamiliar with the history of extreme metal. Last week ‘Dead Child’s’ video “Sweet Chariot” on MTV2’s HeadBanger’s Ball. This week they are the winner of Headbanger’s Blog “Your Vote Counts” contest. Children of Bodom have become a new favorite of mine in the past few months from the first C.O.B. cd I bought, Hatecrew Deathroll. Since then I have bought every studio release and have seen how this band has evolved and love it. I never thought keyboards could sound so cool in a metal band until I started listening the Children Of Bodom. Anyway, below is one of three video interviews from Headbangers blog. There were some pretty good videos on Heabanger’s Ball last week. I really like the new Death Angel video, and even though they play the shit outta that Demon Hunter video I think it’s starting to grow on me. I can honestly say that I am terribly tired of that Straight Line Stitch video and I’ve only seen it once, and I can’t really say I’m a Dillinger Escape Plan fan.
