Iron Maiden’s Somewhere Back In Time , The Best Of 1980-1989 is released today. While it has a really cool cover I just have to say that this track list is getting old. On almost every Iron Maiden best of CD there are always the same tracks. This time there are a few more live ones on there than usual but still. It’s starting to be a little “Kiss-ish” to me. Honeslty how many times can you make the same cd with a new cover and sell it? Track list after the fold.

Moving forward to the eighties, heavy metal spawned many “Satanic” bands into popularity. Venom, Slayer, Merciful Fate, the whole nine. These days there is still a slew of Satanic bands but lets face it, 97% of it is gimmick. The other 3% is those crazy black metal Scandinavian bands; they take their devil music seriously!!
Writing songs these days isn’t easy because after all what is there to write that hasn’t already been written about. If you lived a good life and you don’t want to be a poser you don’t write songs about how hard your life was growing up. …read more
