Former members were invited to appear and/or perform, but only those that performed on released official records will be among the inductees.
Dave Mustaine was invited to attend but due to touring he couldn’t make the date. Do I think Dave Should be inducted among the members of Metallica? Former members were invited to appear and/or perform, but only those that performed on released official records will be among the inductees.

Dave Mustaine was invited to attend but due to touring he couldn’t make the date. Do I think Dave Should be inducted among the members of Metallica? Honestly it’s kind of a maybe but no, not really type feelings. He may have had a great influence on their sound in the early days and they may have even used a few of his songs he wrote before being fired, but fame and fan-hood doesn’t revolve around records alone. You have to get out there and play the music. The records don’t get big by just being released, the band has to go out there and play the records live and promote them just like anything else. Metallica have toured their asses off in the last 26 years.

Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney both played for Metallica in the early days before Kill ‘Em Al was released. The line-up on Kill ‘Em All did not include these two and they won’t be inducted. I would rather see Dave get inducted for Megadeth, his own baby that he birthed into one of the giants of metal. I would first like to see other great bands get inducted that deserve it and while The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has various genres and bands in it, I would love to one day see a Heavy Metal Hall Of Fame, but that’s not likely to happen. Here is a little of what Jason Newstead said according to Blog Magnetic.

“There’s three bass players getting inducted, and James, Lars and Kirk,” former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted said. Former guitarist Dave Mustaine will not be inducted. “Its not my decision. I have nothing to do with that. It was decided by the band, and I think it was just a hard-and-fast rule… anyone who has recorded on any Metallica recordings that have been released to the public as an official release were invited to the induction. So, that’s kind of that.”

Love them or hate them, talk trash or praise them, Metallica have established themselves as one of the greatest metal bands and are living legends in the genre. It wouldn’t be the same and we wouldn’t have many of the bands we have today without them. With that said, let’s watch a classic live video with Newstead doing a bass solo from Live Shit: Binge & Purge (I think).

There is a Metallica Limited Edition Collectors Box Set 2 DVD/Book coming out on January 13th 2009. This is how Amazon.com describes the set.
This unique 2 DVD and book set draws on rare documentary footage of Metallica in performance and on tour, including their legendary performance at Woodstock, alongside the candid reflections of Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield and Jason Newstead. Other themes explored in the film include the changing line-ups and personnel upheavals with Metallica, and we also hear directly from Newstead himself on why he finally quit the band. For the diehard Metallica fan that collects everything Metallica, this is probably a great addition. I also think it’s good that Jason Newstead is getting a little coverage on this as well.

Every time this is on I get pissed off. I get tired of hearing Lars and James argue like a couple of school girls.
Every time this is on I get pissed off. I get tired of hearing Lars and James argue like a couple of school girls. I get tired of hearing James try to sing Seek And Destroy like a female porn star faking an orgasm. What is it going to take to regain my faith in a band I once loved for their relentless rawness. Their chugging riffs. Their Bad-ass-ness!

Crybabies, bad producers, and drama queen ass-monkeys. Lars crying about how when it was just him and James in his room back in 1982 that everything was cool but once someone else was in the room James was different. when “Dave Mustaine came into the picture it all changed” I’m not sure if that was the exact quote but it was something in the range of that. DUDE, Dave has been out of the picture for over 25 years. STFU already! Saying that you don’t want to be pushed away like Jason? Jason didn’t have to be pushed away. He wanted to make music with a band that wasn’t taking 5 years between records and you gave him a choice, Metallica or nothing and he chose otherwise so what the f*ck does that say about the cohesion of the band?!?

Anyway, I hope to hell that Rick Ruben has been working his hairy anus off, molding this band into the kick-ass machine that it once was. I guess we’ll see what happens in September? I say that with a question mark because I’m not 100% confident that their release date will be spot on and won’t get pushed back again. Let’s hope for the best.

And to all those about to leave some pissed off comment…you know I’m right so why even bother?
