The Last Scrap Metal Report And My Farewell

The last week has been kind of crazy being back actually working for a living. I’ve tried to update here when I can, but time has been tight. This will be my last Scrap Metal Report and my last post. However, this isn’t the end of my metal blogging. As I’ve said before, blogging has renewed my faith in metal and I want to keep updated on it and have an outlet for that. For that purpose I started my new, personally owned blog called HookInMouth.net. If you would like to continue to read my metal bloggings, you’re more than welcome to come by, add it to your RSS or whatever and enjoy. I’m not trying to take anything away from Metal Martyr or the next writer, but that’s where I’ll be doing my thing.

With that said, let’s get on to the last little bits of news I’ll ever publish here.

Roadrunner Records allowed you to download a new Killswitch Engage track called Reckoning. If you missed it, fear not because you really aren’t missing out on a great song. It’s kind of weak in my opinion. Hopefully the rest of the record will be better but I’m just not impressed with it. Search around and you may still be able to find it.
Suffocation is supposedly filming a new video for the song called Cataclysmic Purification, which has been up on myspace for about a week or two and will be on the new album, Blood Oath.
I really don’t know if this next bit is Ozzy’s or Sharron’s doing, but the “Prince Of Darkness” has filed a lawsuit against Tony Iommi saying that the Black Sabbath trademark should be owned equally between the for original band members. Regardless whether it’s Sharon pushing Ozzy to do this or not, it doesn’t matter. He claims that Tony secretly filed for patent and trademark of the name and is the sole ownership of the name, but yet Tony is still selling merch and such with original band members faces on them. Proshot Footage Of Killswitch Engage Performing Their New Song Light In A Darkened World At The Revolver Golden God Awards

This is pro-shot footage of Killswitch Engage performing a song off of the upcoming self-titled album called Light In A Darkened World. The footage was shot at the first American Revolver Golden God Awards on April 7th in L.A..

The song will be on their new album which is due out on June 30th on Roadrunner Records. Some fans aren’t taking to it very well. Perhaps it will sound better on the album. What do you think?

It’s Official, KSE Added To The Main Stage Of Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival

It’s been rumored for a couple of weeks now, but according to Revolver Magazine, Killswitch Engage will be the fourth band to play the main stage in this year Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. Killswitch are currently in the studio working on their next album, due out later this year. So here is the line-up as of now.

Killswitch Engage On Roadrunner United DVD

I’m a little behind on this whole Roadrunner United Video Clip Thing, but here is Jesse Leach and Howard Jones doing Last Serenade as a duet performance on the Roadrunner United DVD that comes out next week. I can’t say that I’ve really like much of the Live Killswitch Engage that I’ve heard on various CD’s but I did like the song Irreversal on End Of Heartache with both Howard Jones and Jesse Leach singing. I like the combination of the two singers because they are both great and bring a different vocal sound to the band. Jesse sounds really good in this performance too. Check it out.

Scrap Metal Report 8/22

I gotta tell you, this has been a long week. Waiting for the week and my employment with a company that I have been with for almost three years come to an end, has been kind of nerve racking. This is a big chance I’m taking but I hope it will all be worth it. With that said, I’m sitting here sucking down some Heinekens and wrangling up some metal news for you.

Metallica’s new single “The Day That Never Comes” has been getting a lot of mediocre reviews. Metalsucks.net posted a bunch of other sites reviews, to include my own (while pointing out my Grammatik flaws). A lot of people hated the reviews and it was mainly one person just re-posting stupid comments under different names. I got called fat, lazy and was even accused of living with my parents. The fact is that listening to Metallica these days is like wiping your ass with your left hand (Right, whichever is your less dominant), It just doesn’t feel right but you know it has to be done. I can’t wait until this is released and I don’t feel the need to talk about it anymore.

Killswitch Engage are set to hit the studio in October for a hopeful spring ‘09 release. Yes, I will be looking forward to that.

Sharon Osbourne is writing a fiction novel. It’s called “I’m A Good Mother”

Rob Halford said “I don’t think a straight man could do my job.” To that I say ‘Rob, no one can do your job.’ Although Nostradamus was not what I expected, it’s still an amazing (very long) but amazing record.

Winds Of Plague Fired Their Drummer. I got to see them play two lousy songs that the crowd loved for 6 minutes. That was the highlight of my Thrash And Burn experience. I missed Arsis, I was pissed, bought their cd.

All That Remains posted their new video for Chiron off of their upcoming Overcome release on September 16th. I really dig it.

TWELVV P.M. The Metal Martyr Diaries Soundtrack

I’m not a heroin addict, lower class living where I grew up wasn’t that bad, my parents were good to me and my life has not all been that bad. It’s had some rocky points in it but overall I can’t complain because others have had it much worse. So the soundtrack of my day (yet another list day here at b5Media) goes something like this.

Starting yesterday up until now this is what I’ve been listening to.

Children Of Bodom: Needled 24/7. I was listening to this yesterday doing yardwork when I accidentally ran over a little tiny bunny with the lawnmower. That was not cool, I don’t care what type of music you listen to.
Killswitch Engage: Bid Farewell. This has nothing to do with the demise of the rabbit. It was just the first song to get played this morning on my way to work.
NOFX: The Moron Brothers. Say what you want about these guys, they are great musicians and this song is funny as hell. “Their company you surely won’t miss when your ice trays are filled with piss”
Sepultura: Orgasmatron. A great cover of Motorhead’s classic.
Lamb Of God: Ruin. From As Palaces Burn. Just a bad ass song.
Estranged: Guns N Roses. You could almost call Guns N Roses the first Emo rock band. read the lyrics to most any of the songs, you’ll see. Except GnR kick ass.
Dethklok: Castratikron. Just a random song I played. Anything Dethklok is awesome.
Crowbar: Planets Collide. I don’t listen to a whole lot of Crowbar but this is a real cool and heavy, slow groove tune.
Absolute Vengeance: My Revenge. This again is a great metal band from northern VA. Check out their Myspace. Absolute Vengeance Myspace
Mushroomhead: Crazy (Seal cover) I don’t listen to Seal, but this another awesome cover song.

There you have it. The Metal Martyr Soundtrack of my day. No wining or crying. Not even for the bunny, which would probably have been eaten or run over by a car sooner or later anyway.

Max Cavalera says Lamb Of God Is Alright But KSE Puts On Gayest Show Ever

Well Max, I’m sure there have been countless people that went to a Soulfly concert just to be highly disappointed. Perhaps the scene has changed since the last time Max put out a good record, which has been a long damn time! But to each his own opinion. Sometimes it’s best not to take yourself too seriously. Otherwise you start looking all Mustaine and sh*t. I don’t like the cheezy stage antics of Adam D sometimes, but hell, that’s what he does.
