They released their 25th anniversary album Lust in Space on Metal Blade Records; they are currently on their 25th anniversary tour with Lamb of God and The Red Chord. ODERUS URUNGUS has become the “Interplanetary Correspondent” for Fox News Red Eye, and now ODERUS URUNGUS is featured in the latest issue of SPIN Magazine.

The feature in the November 2009 issue of SPIN Magazine takes place at the Slave Pit in Antarctica and it is entitled “In My Room”. GWAR’s warty front-thing takes an exuberant amount of pride in showing off his room and all of his unique possessions, including his dead dog “Pookie” who has been with him since the beginning as his lover and his pet.

Speaking of pets and more specifically dogs, ODERUS URUNGUS, BEEFCAKE THE MIGHTY and BALSAC THE JAWS OF DEATH served as celebrity judges in the 14th Annual Burton Snowboard Pet Costume Contest on October 27th in Burlington, VT.

Unphased by success, GWAR continues on their course as “the people’s band”. Band members ODERUS URUNGUS, BEEFCAKE THE MIGHTY, and BALSAC THE JAWS OF DEATH are seen above judging the 14th Annual Burton Dog-Costume Show. The event is held every year to benefit CHILL, a charity group dedicated to giving underprivileged children a chance to try snowboarding and other winter sports.

Assjack became one of the features of Hank’s live shows, which start with a country music set, followed by his Hellbilly set, and finally the Assjack set. With the release by Curb Records of their first Assjack album, Hank and crew are determined to make a permanent mark for themselves in the world of metal.

Mark Morton, guitarist for Lamb of God stated:

“Hank is one of the most honest and pure musicians I know. Everything he does is completely rooted in his genuine love of the music above all else. That’s not as common as some might think. For him to carry on his family legacy so successfully, without compromising his individuality as an artist is absolutely amazing.”

Excerpts:
So how do you achieve a work/life balance when you are playing that many shows?

Excerpts:

So how do you achieve a work/life balance when you are playing that many shows?

W: I’ve been doing this for God knows how long, ten or twelve years… You’ve just gotta find a good woman to stick behind you, and let her spend your money!

Looking back on the recent tour, how do you see things? The current album Wrath has really exploded, do you think it’s broken you over here?

W: I don’t know, you tell me! I have no concept of what Europe thinks about us. It seems like every time we come over here it just gets better and better. But I don’t know what album’s responsible for that. I know that the more you saturate something, the bigger the response seems to get. In the States we’ve toured so many f*ckin’ times that every man and his brother knows who Lamb of God is! The more we come over here, the more we saturate it, the better we’re gonna do.

So you think maybe Machine Head and Limp Bizkit head to head tonight?

W: Yeah, I wish we could stick round a bit and join Machine Head! [Laughs] We’d f*ckin’ beat the sh*t out of all those dudes!

They played Download Festival and drew a big crowd. Maybe it’s the nostalgia element?

W: I guess so…. I’m the wrong guy to ask because it’s not my thing. I have no f*cking idea!

So you don’t support it then?

W: No! F*ck those dudes! F*ck that band, and f*ck all the people who work for that f*ckin’ band!

“This song opens with my favorite riff on the record. It came out of Matt’s late night drunken riff bag, and the song built itself around the heavy vibe that it created. It is a four minute beat down!! The lyrics of this song are about the overwhelming self-medication of our world. There is a prescription for every mood these days, and people are turning into zombies. It’s time to toughen up and face your reality, no matter how brutal it may be, otherwise you will just be reigning over a world of nothingness. The bridge features guest vocals from the one and only D. Randall Blythe aka Uncle Goddamn aka The Redneck Assassin of the mighty Lamb of God. Randy came down to the studio in VA to cook us dinner, and we put him right to work behind the mic. We layered his voice with Matt’s and myself to create the three part harmony from hell!!”

Shadows Fall will be dropping their new album Retribution on September 15th.

Randall Blythe of Lamb of God to lend vocals to their track “King of Nothing”, the first released single from the upcoming album “Retribution”. The song gets me pumped to hear more, and I’m definitely going to be picking up their CD on September 15th.
