Led Zeppelin To Headline Glastonbury

It looks as if some people’s wishes are coming true and this money train rolls on. I mean that in a good way. I love the band and every video I’ve seen from the reunion perfomance has been phenominal, not just some crappy reunion. Anyway People’s Monster And Critics has posted more about this in the link below. Here is a short excerpt:

“Led Zeppelin are to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The legendary rock group – who played a sensational comeback concert at London’s O2 arena earlier this month – will take to the stage for the world-famous musical extravaganza, in Somerset, England, before embarking on an 18-month world tour.”

Led Zeppelin Perform “Stairway” in this Reunion Footage.

I hate to post two in a row about the same band, but this is historic. Here is a youtube video from last nights Zeppelin reunion of the ever so classic Stairway To Heaven. It just doesnt get better than this. As you know Zeppelins live shows sound much different than studio work but this performance sounds amazing. I also read that Jason Bonham was so nervouse before the show he was almost ill. I suppose I woul be too. How many times do you get to fill in your late father’s HUGE shoes to play for undoubtedly the greatest band in history…no, no, no…not the Beatles, they are far too over rated! Enjoy the video.

Led Zeppelin Reunion Gets Great Review From Rolling Stone

The Led Zeppelin Reunion that took place Monday night in London got quite a good lengthy review from Rolling Stone writer David Fricke. As a Zeppelin fan I would have loved to see this, being I’m too young to have ever been able to see an original show as I’m sure are most that attended. I met Robert Plant back in 1990 (I think) in upstate, NY. A very soft spoken, friendly guy, he gave myself and a few others autographs. You could say I was star-struck, but yet I didn’t really know too much about them back then. Anyway, enough of My flashback. Here is an excerpt…

“For the second encore of their first full concert in twenty-seven years, at London’s 02 arena last night, LED ZEPPELIN tore into ‘Rock And Roll‘, from their untitled fourth album, with a joyful vengeance. As drummer Jason Bonham hammered with the ghostly precision and ferocity of his late father, guitarist Jimmy Page fired dirty chunks of Chuck Berry and bassist John Paul Jones kept iron time with familiar reserve, singer Robert Plant sang the most obvious words of the night: ‘Been a long time since I rock and rolled.’ Overhead, images of a much younger ZEPPELIN, in concert during the early and mid-Seventies, flashed on a huge digital-video screen. In those films, LED ZEPPELIN were the biggest, loudest and most cocksure band in rock. Jimmy Page’s now snow-white hair was still jet black; Robert Plant was a golden god, not yet a Viking elder, and the late John Bonham — whose death in 1980 abruptly ended ZEPPELIN’s reign — still ruled the engine room. “

Led Zeppelin Ticket Lottery Winners Announced

From BBC News: Fans get hold of Zeppelin tickets

Thousands of Led Zeppelin fans have been notified they were successful in the ticket lottery for the rock band’s one-off reunion concert.

Tickets for the show, on 26 November at London’s O2 arena, cost of £125 each, plus booking fee.

“Much to my surprise, I’m one of the lucky ones,” fan Padraic Conway wrote to the BBC News website. “I’m stunned!”

But many were left disappointed – more than one million people had applied for the 20,000 tickets.

According to fans who emailed the BBC, all tickets will have to be picked up in person from the O2 arena. Fans will also be given a wristband which must not be removed before the concert.

The tickets and wristbands will only be available for collection on 25 and 26 November.

The move is likely to be a further attempt to combat touts. On eBay, some lucky applicants are attempting to sell their passwords for the official ticket sale – charging up to £1,000 a time.

But promoter Harvey Goldsmith has said the password must match the personal details of the person who applied – otherwise the tickets will be canceled.

“Unfortunately, a small number of unscrupulous people have decided to take advantage of the fact that they had been awarded the opportunity to purchase tickets,” he said.

“It is even more unfortunate that eBay and a number of ticket scalping sites have chosen to take advantage of this situation.

“Please note that unless the ticket, the code and correct identification match, those tickets will be invalid. Anyone who chooses to purchase tickets in this way will lose their money.”
