2008…A Cursed/Blessed Year In Metal
December 31, 2008 by Scott
Even though we saw some great shows and amazing albums in 2008, we’ve also seen our share of craziness. I’ve compiled a list of some crazy things that have happened this year that I can think of off the top of my head.
Byzantine breaks up…3 days after they release Oblivion Beckons.
Light This City break up before releasing the last record.
Arsis changes members more than their underwear.
The Black Dahlia Murder lose a guitarist…steals one from Arsis.
Phil Demmel of Machine Head passes out twice on stage.
DJ Sid from Slipknot breaks both of his feet…keeps on trucking.
Joey Jordison breaks an ankle, cancels UK …read more

Interview Exclusive: Light This City
Yesterday I posted the review to Light This City’s fourth and final album, Stormchaser. So what are the other band members up to now that they have disbanded? I was wondering the same thing myself and seeing that it was getting close to the release date of Stormchaser, I figured there was no better time to contact Ben Murray, one of the founding members and drummer of the band.
MM: It’s been almost 5 months since you announced LTC’s disbanding. What have you been doing since then?
Ben: Well, I personally started attending UC Berkeley in August, so I’m busy with …read more
In Review: Light This City Stormchaser
Earlier this year I caught up with Light This City for an interview when they were on tour with All That Remains, Chimaira and Black Tide. At that time they were touring in support of their third album Facing The Thousand which was also their second with second on Prosthetic Records. Facing The Thousand was released in 2006 and Light This City was in the process of writing and recording their next album shortly after this tour.
After the winter tour with fellow label mates All That Remains, Light This City got in to the studio and started recording Stormchaser. …read more
Today’s North American Releases 10/28/08
October 28, 2008 by Scott
Holy crap, there is so much stuff coming out today. On a side note, before I get started the new (and last from the bad) Light This City Stormchaser will be coming on November 11th. I got a review copy the other day and I’m really diggin it. I’ll write up a review later in the week. AC/DC has sold over 3/4 of a million copies of their new album Black Ice in the U.S. alone and over 5 million copies worldwide. That’s some crazy numbers. It’s a cool rock album if you dig AC/DC. I’ll be transcribing the Opeth …read more
Pre-Order Light This City’s Stormchaser
October 13, 2008 by Scott
All thought the band is no more, the music lives on in their last and posthumous release, Stormchaser. Light This City’s 3rd and last studio record on the Prosthetic label, finished shortly before they announced their disbanding mid-tour. It’s a shame to see a band that was only at it’s beginning, go their separate ways. Maybe it’s not totally over and we’ll see something in the future, but don;t get your hopes up. Here’s the word from Prosthetic Records:
LIGHT THIS CITY unveils ‘Stormchaser’ Release Date, Track Listing & New Song On Myspace
San Francisco melodic death thrashers LIGHT THIS CITY have confirmed Nov. 11 as the release date for the band’s fourth full-length album, entitled ‘Stormchaser,’ as well as the complete tracklisting for the 12-song effort, which will be released through Prosthetic Records. A new track, “Sand And Snow” has also been posted on the LIGHT THIS CITY MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/lightthiscity).
Light This City To Post New Song On Myspace
September 4, 2008 by Scott
Light This City announced on their Myspace that they will be posting a new track from their final CD on September 15th.
As you know LTC announced back in June that they were disbanding shortly after finishing recording their new album and in mid-tour of Thrash And Burn.
It’s also rumored that the new record, being their final cd may be released in November.

Gas Prices Causing Tour Cancelation Everywhere
July 29, 2008 by Scott
Dallas Coyle of God Forbid(another contributor at Metalsucks) mentioned this awhile back when he talked about Light This City disbanding. Gas prices, even though they are dropping a tiny bit are effecting the large tours with multiple bands on the bill. I was going to write something up on this last week because I see a lot of bands dropping off of tour claiming financial hardships. I never got around to it and Vince Neilstein over at the Metal Sucks Mansion beat me to it. I’m not going to try to be an ass and write my own about it, …read more
For The Half-Wits That Can’t Figure Stuff Out For Themselves Concerning The Thrash And Burn Tour
July 8, 2008 by Scott
If you see the Thrash And Burn ads and tour dates in magazines or online and you STILL see Light This City in the line up, stop scratching your heads because it’s not going to make the common sense part of your brain work, obviously. NO, Light This City are NOT back together and if you haven’t figured out that they just haven’t removed their name from it yet, then perhaps you need a lobotomy or something. So stop asking the question. If Light This City announced that they are back up and running I would be one of …read more
