Machine Head to Cover Pantera for Upcoming Tribute CD
According to The Metal Den, Machine Head’s recently announced cover of Pantera’s “Fucking Hostile” is reportedly going to be appear on an upcoming Pantera tribute CD that’s being assembled by an unrevealed UK metal magazine. The disc (it’s being said) is to feature numerous current scene heavyweights covering songs from the great Texas band’s back catalogue.
Machine Head vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn had this to say,
”Found time to hop into Trident Studios with Juan Urteaga and record a PANTERA tune for a b-side. We’re doing ‘Fucking Hostile’!!! Dave is done with drums (nailed it on the second take!), and I finished guitars …read more

July 25, 2009 by Eric J
Phil Demmel collapsed on stage today during Machine Head’s last song at the Sonisphere Festival in Pori, Finland, but reports are saying that he is fine.
Phil stated to Sonisphere:
“Basically I want to apologize to all the fans for cheating them of their last song. I feel I short-changed the fans and really want to make it up for them, thanks for all the concern.”
Phil suffers from a rare condition called Cardiogenic Syncope, which causes the heart to have a sudden drop in blood flow, causing blackouts.

Machine Head’s Rob Flynn Says 30 Year Olds Don’t Listen To Metal
November 29, 2008 by Scott
Machine Head Front-man Rob Flynn was interviewed by Shockhound recently. You can review that entire interview here. What I don’t understand and is the statement below where he said:
“30 year-old people don’t listen to fuckin’ metal. They really don’t. They’ve moved on with their lives, they get jobs, they get girlfriends, they listen to what’s on the radio. Kids are what keeps the scene alive;”
Seriously? I like Rob and Machine Head….but that’s the biggest bullshit statement I’ve ever heard. What keeps the scene alive is the people that don’t stop listening to metal beyond 30. Does this dude …read more
Today’s North American Releases 10/28/08
October 28, 2008 by Scott
Holy crap, there is so much stuff coming out today. On a side note, before I get started the new (and last from the bad) Light This City Stormchaser will be coming on November 11th. I got a review copy the other day and I’m really diggin it. I’ll write up a review later in the week. AC/DC has sold over 3/4 of a million copies of their new album Black Ice in the U.S. alone and over 5 million copies worldwide. That’s some crazy numbers. It’s a cool rock album if you dig AC/DC. I’ll be transcribing the Opeth …read more

Win A Slightly Used Line 6 Uber Metal Distortion Pedal And More!
September 14, 2008 by Scott
I haven’t used this in quite some time and if you’re looking for a cool, rugged stomp box, this is it. The Tone Core Line 6 Uber Metal is a great distortion pedal. So I have this to give up. Still have the box and the pilot’s guide too. I thought about putting it on Ebay but I figured why not give it to a Metal Martyr reader. Along with it goes a Machine Head guitar pick I got from Mayhem Fest, a brand new set of SIT .010-.052 heavy bottom guitar strings, A Machine Head and Mastodon Poster …read more
