Mastodon Footage from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
October 30, 2009 by Eric J
Mastodon performed their song “Divinations” from Crack the Skye last night (Oct 29) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In my opinion live metal performances on talk shows/live TV always end up sounding like shit, and this one is no exception… and since Jimmy Fallon has had several metal bands performing on his show lately, maybe it’s time to get a decent sound technician?
Oh well, it’s still a good song, check it out below:

Crack The Sky…The Movie
May 7, 2009 by Scott
Pink Floyd’s The Wall was a great concept album and movie. It was a lot better when I was younger and watched it under the influence of certain things, but it was still a brilliant concept. The Who did it with Tommy, albeit not my favorite. Various others could have done it. Queensryche could have done an Operation Mindcrime and Judas Priests newest album would make a good Broadway show perhaps. I would be quite interested in a Crack The Skye movie, even if it was an animated type deal, which I think would make it even more trippy. …read more
2009: The First 100 Days
April 29, 2009 by Scott
So, 2009. I don’t even know where to begin. So far, so good as far as metal year goes. This is in no particular order so bare with me.
We got a new Lamb Of God album that I still think is not as good as everyone else thinks; and a new Mastodon album that is musically amazing but people seem to bitch about because it’s not heavy enough or something.
Cannibal Corpse release an album that is, well, another good Cannibal Corpse album. Nothing extravagant enough to go on a murder spree, but a good album. Cattle Decapitation almost convince me …read more

Mastodon Crack The Billboards At #11
April 1, 2009 by Scott
Mastodon’s Crack The Skye landed on the billboard charts at #11, selling 41,000 copies almost doubling what Blood Mountain sold in it’s first week. I really can’t say enough good about this record, accept that I had to put it away for a week or so, so I don’t make myself get sick of it. If you haven’t bought it yet, spend the extra couple of dollars and get the deluxe edition with the DVD.

Mastodon Crack The Skye Review
Mastodon Crack The Skye Review. I’ve been drooling over this album since it first leaked, we all know that. I get press on it and I post it. I do that with all the bands that I’m really excited about their new album release, but even I’m sick of myself talking about Crack The Skye. So after this is done, obviously the Mastodon new will be a little more spread out. I went out and got myself a physical copy yesterday and surprisingly they only had a few.
I haven’t been a fan of Mastodon for a very long. Probably …read more
New Metal Releases For 3/24/09
March 24, 2009 by Scott
There wasn’t really anything that came out last week that I thought was worth posting. This week is a bit different with a few significant albums. If you’re in to crappy music then you’ll be eager to run out and buy Papa Roach’s new album, but I would opt for any one of the others on this list before I made that mistake.
Mastodon – Crack The Skye (check out the special edition deluxe with a DVD of the Making Of Crack The Skye. I’ll let you know how that is later.)
