What’s so incredible about this profession is something that lots of bands or band people don’t realize; This “job” is absolutely the best opportunity to really travel and see the world. Just about anywhere you are on the earth, you can immerse yourself in something amazing, whether it’s finding local art, farmers’ markets, local cuisine, local culture, shopping districts, historical sights, museums, symphony halls, all it takes is a little searching.

I’ve had Ascendancy since 2005 and I can probably count on my hands how many times and how many songs I have listened to. When I got Ascendancy I also got a few other CD’s in the mix that I can’t think of off the top of my head  but Trivium didn’t get much attention. I just wasn’t into that Matt Heafy scream back then. Upon listening to Ascendancy all the way through today I was very surprised how much I was diggin it. It will probably get a lot more iPod time now. And then The Crusade started playing right after that (alphabetical order in iTunes) and I was absolutely loving it! I was a bit hesitant about buying The Crusade when it came out because I was afraid I wouldn’t like it, but I bought it anyway and it got a lot of play time and still does.

Trivium gets so much flack, being called Screamo, Metalcore, Metallica clones, etc. But in my opiion they are a great solid band that have an ass-load of talent. Seriously, in this day and age of metal it’s tough not to sound like another band, but most people can tell a Trivium song faster than they could tell another death/black/metalcore band if a random song played. Now some people may be reading this and saying to themselves ‘I wouldn’t know a Trivium song if I heard one", and you know that those are the same people that hate them. Trivium have a signature sound to them, believe it or not, where as many other metalcore bands all sound similar. I’m not bashing metalcore bands, most know that I dig a lot of metalcore bands. But the fact is that Trivium gets more crap by more people that probably have never heard many or any of their songs. I’m checking out these guys live on the 18th with All That Remains and I’ll be interviewing Corey Beaulieu before the show.

I’ll try to get a review of Shogun up sometime this week.

“We’ve completed the new album and the music has been delivered to Roadrunner Records and is in the process of being mixed. We’re expecting a late September 2008 release. Needless to say we are proud of what we have created and look forward to your reactions when you have a chance to listen to and digest the new music.”

Trivium have posted the following bulletin on Myspace about the upcoming new record:

“For the first time, we can’t look at our songs and say who the riffs sound like,” guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy told Revolver magazine about the group’s new material. “We’re really making our own stuff and our own kind of music and art form, and that’s exciting.”

TRIVIUM reportedly wrote around 40 songs last year and demoed the best 15 or so before commencing the new LP recording sessions.
“When we went in, we thought, ‘Hey, these songs are good enogh for the album already,’ but we’ve overhauled almost everything,” Heafy told Revolver.
“Nick has encouraged us to explore so many new ideas that we never would have thought of.
”
In a previous interview with Revolver, TRIVIUM guitarist Corey Beaulieu stated about the upcoming CD, “We want to capture the best ingredients of everything we’ve done. Each song has a little bit of everything, going between something heavy and then melodic, and then back to something heavy. So it has a really interesting balance.
On ‘The Crusade’, Matt did almost all singing, so this time we’re bringing back some of the screaming that’s on [2005's] ‘Ascendancy’.
”
As previously reported, TRIVIUM will join metal legends IRON MAIDEN as “special guest” for one show on Saturday, June 14 at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Commented Heafy: “TRIVIUM is honored to again be asked to play a show with IRON MAIDEN.
We supported them for a full European tour in 2006 and it was one of the best touring experiences we’ve ever had as a band.
MAIDEN are absolute legends and we hoped one day we would have another chance to share a stage with them. When they called us for this special show we couldn’t say yes fast enough.
We’ll just be getting out of the studio and won’t even be touring yet but we’re going to enjoy the show and then have the opportunity to watch MAIDEN do what they do best — kick ass on stage.

Matt Heafy: “We started demoing after Family Values, like October,” he said. “We started writing some songs, demoing them. The demo quality is so good it sounds like a real album, which is awesome, so it gives us a really good basis to compare and fix shit, so we’ve been revising and going back in and changing shit up. We’re doing another set of demos. I think we’re probably going to have 30 songs to pick from and we’re working with Nick Raskulinecz [FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, VELVET REVOLVER, SHADOWS FALL, STONE SOUR].”

They still have yet to hire a producer siting that this time around they want to try someone different (than Jason Suecof) that may bring some different ideas to the table.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you gotta give these guys some credit. Their guitar work is phenomenal and they have recorded some great songs on both Ascendancy and The Crusade. Call them a “Clone” band, whatever. When you have strong influences sometimes you tend to sound a bit like (or better) than your mentors. When I bought Ascendancy I was impressed with the music and when the vocals kicked in I really didn’t want to listen anymore. When I heard a few songs off of The Crusade It was much more friendly to my ears. If your not a trivium fan because of the vocals and you have never heard The Crusade, give it a shot. It may be the only Trivium album you ever buy, but you just may like it!

Hey Everyone.

Matt here in Birmingham, UK first day off of The Black
Crusade UK/Euro leg of the tour has been completely unreal… if you
haven’t had a chance yet check some pictures out of how the tour has
been going.

The amount of killer friends showing up to all the shows is first of
all, mindblowing… then, there’s our fuckinjungle-gym-playhouse-for-metalkids-of-a-stage!
it’s the very stage all of us have always dreamed of- and i tell ya- it’s a blast.

So it seems like everyones having a great time! all 4 of us band dudes
and all the people rockin in the crowds always have bigggg ass grins
on their faces before, during, and after the show… this is just one
big -party; and we’re lovin it.

Shadows Fall is fuckin rockin out; Arch Enemy shredding the shit out
of people; Dragonforce… is… wellll…. holy shit, right?; and
of course MACHINE HEAD!!! MACHINE FUCKING HEAD, enough said.

So if you have an opportunity to come out to any of the shows, and for
some reason aren’t – you’re crazy!! come on out and have some fun with
us.

This tour is a complete dream come true and we are so happy and
thankful for everything that is going on.

Once this tour is over it’s gonna be a very long while till we play
any shows (unfortunately!); however, we gotta take the time to go and
make the greatest trivium album ever (we have demo’d lotsa tracks and
so far… it’s already, in demo form, shaping up to be the best
material we have ever created.

So till whenever i can see ya’ll again (whether a show, hanging at a
