The Cost Of A Cd Vs. Illegal Downloading

With the last post I went back to the original article and looked at more of the comments people made. Someone went on to say that CD’s cost too much. Yes, most of them do especially depending on where you buy them. They guestimated that the average cost of making a CD is about 3 to 5 dollars. Let me break a few things down for the thick sculled few that don’t understand the whole concept of recording, and printing a cd.

UK May Ban Internet Users For Illegal Downloading

In an article from Ultimate-guitar.com, a proposal is in the works to ban illegal down-loaders in the UK from internet access. It’s a pretty good concept and you should really read what stupid comments this can bring out of people. One guy even went on to say that $1.00 a song is too much and he’d be willing to pay $.50 as long as he can get it back when he gets bored with the song and deletes it. So I suppose he’s going to go to a car dealership and offer them half the price of the car and …read more

Metalupdate.com Lamb Of God Interview | Chris Adler Talks About File Sharing

Here is an excerpt from an old interview from Metalupdate.com. Metal Update talks to Lamb Of God’s Chris Adler on the Napster debate. I wonder if his views have changed since this interview?
“MU: What is your opinion on the Napster debate?
CA: I think it is the record industry and the record company’s business to make money. From my perspective, as a musician, I’d love to be able to make a living, and I’d love to be able to continue doing this. But from my experience with music I’ve learned that this is not what pays the bills, and I’m lucky …read more

Digital Music Sales Up in ‘07

Ultimate-guitar.com posted an article about the rise in digital music sales in 2007. Juts another reason that record labels need to try to adapt and get in on it from their own sites and try to sell singles or combos of songs at a reasonable price. I’d be stupid to think that they haven’t already started looking at ways to do this, but they might want to hurry up. It will be good for their bands and companies. Anyway, below is a short excerpt from Ultimate-guitar.com’s article. Click on the link at the bottom to go to the source.

Is The Internet Killing The Record Industry? | You Said “No”

I wasn’t sure how I was going to go about doing it but I had
planned on discussing this poll in depth. 2/3 of the people that participated in the poll said “No, the internet is not killing the record industry”. I agree that it’s not killing the record industry…but they are pissed cause they are not making nearly as much money as they used to. I was cruising through some older posts on Metalsucks.net and I came across this post where “Vince Neilstein” (I love it!) talked about that woman in Minnesota that has to pay over 200 grand and …read more
