So they got something right. Vinnie Paul is an “Awesomely good drummer”, Dave Mustaine is a Golden God and Ozzy does deserve the lifetime achievement. I’ll even go as far as saying that Slipknot do put on a hell of a live show, but the rest kind of baffle me.

I love Slayer, but mind-blowing is not how I would describe their guitar playing. You already know how I feel about Metallica winning the best album for Death Magnetic, I mean that’s just ridiculous. Most Metal Athlete? Honorary headbanger? They couldn’t come up with a couple more awards to award actual metal bands and not just people associated with metal in some stupid way? How about awarding Dimebag, Cliff Burton, Randy Rhodes and Chuck Schuldiner a posthumous award or something? Maybe a “Most Brutal” award to Cannibal Corpse or Suffocation? The Rock Of Love Charm School

Metal Hammer is reporting that according to TMZ that Sharon allegedly attacked one of the Rock Of Love: Charm School cast members during a taping of the shows Reunion special Saturday night. Apparently Megan Hauserman said to Sharon Osbourne that the only reason that she is only famous for managing a brain-dead rock star. I guess this set Sharon off and she ran across the stage and grabbed Hauserman by the hair and wouldn’t let go. L.A.P.D. came and it’s said that Megan had to take a trip to the hospital. Hopefully we will see the video of this incident some time soon.

We all know that Ozzy’s not brain-dead and at times you can’t understand a damn word he’s saying…but he’s still Ozzy! While Megan’s Statement might hold some truth, the only reason that Ozzy is perhaps still alive and became successful in his solo career after Black Sabbath is because Sharon whipped him back in to shape and out of his slump after Black Sabbath ousted him.

Good for Sharon. I have caught a few episodes of the show late at night and I honestly don’t know how she put up with these girls as long as she did. I think Miss Megan needs to realize that the only reason that she’s famous (If that’s what you want to call it) is because she got on a VH1 reality show with a bunch of other strippers/whores/skanks/sluts/floozies (I could go on) to try to win the heart of Bret Michaels and/or get your ticket off of the brass poll. Way to go, you’re a star!!!

On another note: you may be thinking “This girl is hot”, but I had to download the high-res image for this post with an extreme close-up of her face…she looks a little, um,…slow if you know what I mean.

I have dumped a bunch of money into CDs this past year, probably more than I have in a long time. I have discovered and re-discovered bands that I’ve been missing out on and was even introduced to new music by record labels that sent me CDs to review (Thanks Bob at Prosthetic and Taylor at Dwell). While most of these albums didn’t come out in 2007, 2007 was the year I bought them and therefore; the first list will be my Favorite Buys Of 2007. The second list is a short one. It’s my favorite Debut records of 2007. Lastly is my Biggest Disappointments of 2007. Records I bought and was throughly disappointed with.

1. Lamb Of God- Every Record. After hearing Ashes Of The Wake I fell in love with this band and bought every LOG record this year. I really like everyone with perhaps the exception of New American Gospel. I can’t wait to see whats next from this band and try to see them next time they come around here.
2. Killswitch Engage- Once again, every record. I got into Killswitch when I bought As Daylight Dies and quickly became a fan.
3. Hatebreed- Supremacy. In my opinion this is Hatebreed’s best work to date. Every song on this record is great. If you haven’t been impressed with Hatebreed in the past I say give them a second chance with Supremacy.
4. As I lay Dying- An Ocean Between Us. I bought this album after only hearing the first song and I’m still impressed.
5. All That Remains- Fall Of Ideals. Diverse in every way. From beginning to end it has your attention. The guitar work, solos, vocals and drums all mix well. This is in my opinion the best Christian metal you will hear.
6. Led Zeppelin- Mothership. If your looking for an inexpensive, GOOD Zeppelin Compilation then look no further. For a two disk set it has the essentials.
7. Megadeth- United Abominations. Megadeth’s Best work in a long time. It’s good to see Dave back on track.
8. Yakuza- Transmutations. You have to truly like all sorts of music styles to enjoy this record. It’s not for everyone, but it does kick ass!
9. Mastodon- Blood Mountain. These guys have a style all their own and Blood Mountain shows it.
10. Danzig- The Lost Tracks. This 2 disk set brings out some b-sides and stuff that has been left out on older records. These days Glenn is more into the industrial stylish sound but the older stuff on this set is great!

Honorable mentions: A life Once Lost:Iron Gag, Haste The Day: Pressure The Hinges, Shadows Fall: Threads OF Life

Best Debuts Of 2007

Divine Heresy- Bleed The Fifth. Dino Cazarez did well with this line-up and vocal choice. Sure it kinda sounds a bit Fear Factory-ish, but hell, FF isn’t putting anything out good these days so why not.
Hail!Hornet- Southern Sludge Metal at it’s best. Even coining their own genre as Grime Metal, Hail!hornet keeps it heavy and dirty. With members from Weedeater, Alabama Thunderpussy, and Sourvein, this record will ruin your life as they say.

Biggest Disappointments of 2007
Dragonforce- Inhuman Rampage. I don’t like the singer’s voice, the overuse of synthesizers, and overdone, drawn out songs. It felt like I was stuck in a Japanimation soundtrack or an old Nintendo game.
Ozzy- Black Rain. Sorry Ozzy. Sounds to pop-ish. With over- repetative choruses, Zakks pinch harmonics every other note and the sound as if someone wrote the lyrics for you it just made for an undesirable record. Good effort…bad outcome.

Well thats it. I’m sure I have missed a lot of great metal out there that I haven’t got to check out but I’m kinda picky when it comes to new music and a lot of stuff I sampled just didn’t fit my likings or was substandard to me. I hope 2008 has even more to offer!

Black Sabbath originated out of Birmingham England in 1968 as a blues and rock band under the names Polka Tulk Blues Company and Earth. Later changing their name to Black Sabbath after Tony Iommi wrote a song called the aforementioned name when confused with another local band called Earth.

This is where I’m going to stop this history…because if you don’t know the history of the band then you either are new to heavy metal or you don’t watch enough TV. Google Black Sabbath

Fast Forward::: Ozzy and Sabbath reunite and do shows at ozzfest. Later, Dio hooks back up with Iommi, Butler and Drummer Vinny Appice to tour as Heaven and Hell with a great success. Black Sabbath The Dio Years is released and also has had great success.

Rumors have floated around for years about a new record being recorded with all original members but has and probably will never happen. Honestly I hope it doesn’t because how can you bring something back from 40 years ago and expect it to still have the impact that it had back then. It won’t be the same and frankly I think it will be a huge disappointment for fans new and old. Lets leave well enough alone. All Hail Black Sabbath!

Since when does the lure of an OZZY OSBOURNE concert become the impetus for a sting operation by one local sheriff?

That’s what an outraged Osbourne would like to know after the events that transpired Monday, October 29 before his show at the Fargodome in Fargo, ND.

As masterminded by Paul D. Laney, a local county sheriff — under the name of PDL Productions — this is how the sting was set up, all without Osbourne’s knowledge:

Sheriff Laney took the liberty of planning an Ozzy Osbourne pre-show concert party by offering the very same perks included in Ozzy’s “official” VIP tour packages including two tickets to 40 unsuspecting citizens who received the PDL invites by mail.

When the “winners” showed up at the bash, they were promptly handcuffed and arrested on various outstanding warrants. Sheriff Laney quickly held a televised press conference to congratulate himself on the successful sting operation.
