Down Tour North America With Evil Army and Weedeater UPDATED
January 6, 2009 by Scott
Down is heading out on tour once again in supports of Down III: Over The Under with Evil Army and Weedeater. Down III has sold over 128,000 copies since it’s release on September 25th of 2007, a far cry from their platinum plus selling debut album, NOLA. Of course times have changed and very few metal bands see platinum hits these days with illegal downloading.
Down IV, obviously being the bands fourth album is supposed to be released some time this year. The dates below have been confirmed so far.
UPDATE: The Tour has been postponed due to shifting …read more
The Last Great Pantera Video
October 27, 2008 by Scott
Reinventing The Steel wasn’t Pantera’s greatest album, but it had a few good tunes on it. Perhaps it would have been better if there wasn’t so much tension between Phil and the Abbots and they wrote it as a band. Instead the entire album was written and recorded in one place, sent to Phil and he recorded the vocals elsewhere. Phil’s voice sounded great in this song as well as Dime’s playing. It would have been great to see them do a video for Goddamn Electric in tribute to Dime, but that’s not likely to happen. Revolution Is My Name! …read more
The Scrap Metal Report 1st Edition 7/29
July 29, 2008 by Scott
Metal Shavings will now be called “The Scrap Metal Report” because I think it sounds cooler and I run this show so I can do that kind of stuff. I’ll come up with a logo later. If you’re not familiar with Metal Shavings, it’s basically a breakdown of news events in metal compiled into a list and summarized.
Lamb Of Godsaid no to an offer from Metallica to be an opening act for them following the release of their upcoming Death Magnetic. Lamb Of God said it was due to them getting back in the studio to record their next album. …read more
I am Hated Part 2, Metal Divas
In the first part of this article I talked about bands that are hated because they changed styles or just are not really accepted by a lot of metal fans in the community of the huge dysfunctional family we call Heavy Metal. Now I’m going to talk about some of the Metal stars that somewhere along the line thought that they are better than other people and look down upon people, both fans and other bands as peasants in their kingdom of fame. Some of the stars become cocky and self righteous douche bags. Now lets have a little …read more
Lay It To Rest Already!
February 1, 2008 by Scott
Damn, it’s been over three years and every other day we are still seeing news about Dimebag’s death and Rita Haney bitchin about Phil Anselmo and trying to point fingers for his murder. Enough of all this “He Said-She Said” BullShit already. You can call Phil what you want, you can blame anyone you please but it’s still not going to bring your boyfriend back, Rita. We would ALL like to believe that this is all a bad dream…but it’s not. Dimebag is gone and it’s time to move on.
We all say shit we regret every now and then and …read more
Another Interview About Dimebag Darrell W/ Vinnie Paul And Rita Haney
Here are a few excerpts from an interview with Rita Haney (Dimebag Darrell’s ex-girlfriend) and Vinnie Paul (If you don’t know who Vinnie Paul is then you shouldn’t be here). Anyway It came out of Metal Hammer’s January Issue. Three years later you’d think people would stop asking the same damn questions to the same people.
Metal Hammer: Do you think that had Darrell not been murdered that he and Vinnie might have eventually made their peace with Phil, and PANTERA might have gotten back together?
Metal Shavings 1/4, Year End In Review
January 4, 2008 by Scott
Holy crap, 2008 is here already. Where does the time go. Another year another year older my decrepit ass is. 2007 was a fun filled roller-coaster of madness, but here we are. It’s time for a whole new shitty year. A new president will be elected, “W” will finally be out and we can look forward to a whole new screwed up situation come ‘09. Speaking of…I’m about tired of hearing the word Caucus. Anyway, time to unload the garbage…

Phil Anselmo Stops Down Show For Beer Slinger, Puts Him On His Knees.
November 18, 2007 by Scott
Check out this video of some stupid concert goer at a Down show last Thursday night. Apparently, this guy threw a beer at Phil, to which Phil gets the audience to point him out. Security brings the guy on stage and you’ll see what happens next in the video clip from youtube.
Revolver’s Greatest Frontmen (And Women) Of Metal
October 20, 2007 by Scott
December’s issue of Revolver Magazine has compiled a list of the 37 greatest frontmen and women of metal. I only count 23. Maybe my issue is missing a page or two, I don’t know. Anyway, they knew better than to rank them by number so they just listed them all randomly. If anyone else has this issue let me know if I’m missing something. Here is what I have. Not a band list but I think they missed quite a few and I dont know where they came up with the number 37:
Phil Anselmo-Pantera/Down
