The Scrap Metal Report 1/14/09

I got things done kind of early yesterday so there was a bunch of fairly relevant news items that I missed.

Dave Mustaine says that he and producer Andy Sneep have decided that they have what they need to start recording the new Megadeth album.

All That Remains front-man Phil Labonte will be on XM Radio’s Liquid Metal (channel 42) tonight between 9 and 10 pm EST. The segment will re-air on the 16th at 11pm and the 17 at 5pm. ATR are heading to the UK to tour with The Haunted on the 17th and then to Europe on the 26th.

Tommy Araya has a brother that plays bass too? Apparently so. Johnny Araya plays bass for Thine Eyes Bleed but will be filling in for Mindless Self Indulgence bassist “Lynz: for their Kerrang! tour in the UK.

Papa Roach are putting out a new album on March 24th called Metamorphosis. Maybe one day their music will metamorphosis in to something relatively listenable.

Poison and Def Leppard are going to tour together this year despite a pretty lame war of words last year between the two bands.

Does anyone really give a crap about this new Osbournes reality/variety show coming on fox?

Warrant and L.A. Guns members are forming a Led Zeppelin tribute band…as if there aren’t enough of those. I have a Led Zeppelin tribute album with both bands on it and it’s the worst tribute album I think I have ever heard. It pretty much just sounds like vocal-overs of the original music.

Chimaira resigned their worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast. Nuclear Blast handles the bands business everywhere else but North American, where Ferret Music handles it.

RATT is recording new music and Stephen Pearcy says it will surely kick ass. I honesty don’t think RATT could write an album that appeals to the current metal fans and I doubt if there will be a million 40+ year old hair metal fans camping out in front of the record stores awaiting this.

Lastly, Dean Guitars is unveiling a new ML Design that looks like just about any other ML with the exception of the pickups being close together. That company will never top the Razorback. Check out a picture of it at BW&BK. Click on the picture when you get there.

Maybe one day we’ll see the infamous tampon hurled into the audience by L7 up for auction one day.

Old Men Vs Older Men And Dallas Coyle’s Take On It

When I heard that the dudes from Poison and Def Leppard were having a war of words, I thought to myself…’hopefully there will be some kind of drive-by involved. And then I remembered that shit only happens in hip-hop. Oh well. A man can dream, can’t he? This week in Dallas Coyle’s feature over at Metalsucks, he talks about this whole ordeal and if you have ever read Dallas’s entries before you pretty much know what his take on it is going to be.

Bret Michaels bothers me now too. I never had a problem with him until that show Rock Of Love. The first season was pretty cool. He picked a good looking girl and it was pretty dope to envision that girl on my lap every single week. But on the last season his judgment went down the drain. Those last two girls were atrocious! I love VH1 just like anyone else. I want to see bitch fights. Def Leppard and Poison just gave me the best one I’ve seen in a long time! Did any of you laugh as hard as I did when I saw how NOT dangerous that little back and forth was?

Brett Michaels Is 44 And Desperate | Rock Of Whores 2

I thought the above title would fit the show better kinda like Scott Baio’s stupid show on VH1. I started watching the Rock Of Love 2 on VH1 the other night just to cure my curiousity cause I watched last season religiously. Sad…I know. Anyway, I could barely stomach it this time around. Perhaps because you kinda know whats going on in this one. Unlike last season, everyone of these girls are FUTT BUCKIN UGLY!! Ok, well there are one or two that aren’t too bad, but If I was Brett I would have fired whoever picked these girls. First off, all of them are sluts, whores, strippers, etc. and if thats what he looking for then great. I guess its easier for him to get laid this way than to actually having to tour and screw a bunch of saggy breasted, washed up groupies that are looser than…well damn, I just can’t think of anything looser right now. I can honestly say that I probably won’t watch this season of Rock Of Whores. And one last thing. I think I speak for everyone when I say that Brett, those hair plugs aren’t fooling anyone. Notice how over the years the bandanna has gotten bigger and higher? I think it’s time for another shot of botox.

Metal Resolutions | Don’t Hold Your Breath!

Once again it’s theme day at the b5 Media channel and todays theme is Resolutions made by Bands/Stars that will probably be broken. I contacted a publicist for each of the following Bands and/or Stars and asked them if their clients had made any new years resolutions. Here is was they told me!

Why Can’t I Stop Watching This Show

After all the trash talking, all the criticism, I can’t stop watching this show. Perhaps it’s because there is nothing better on. I know it’s not because this show is chuck full of beautiful women cause it ain’t! There are a few decent looking ones. I just don’t know. I see that it’s on and I turn to it.

I do know one thing though…Bret Michaels is lookin’ rough and finally he has shown himself without the bandanna. The guy is not going bald but he does have an extremely big forehead and If I were him I’d wear the stupid hats and bandannas too.

Most of these girls are half his age. I have to give the man credit though, anyone that can put up with so much crap has a lot of patience. Like they say “no matter how hot a woman is, there is always some guy that’s sick and tired of her sh!t!”. And this work both ways too.

But wait I’m not finished yet. This guy keeps kissing all over every one of these women. Bret, think about what your doing…do you have any idea where all of these mouths have been? And ladies (you don’t deserve that title), think about all the mouths that have been on Bret’s mouth and where those mouths have been. Every time he starts making out with one of these women it makes me kinda queezy and I have to change the channel. The free clinic is going to be pretty busy when this show is over.

This will be my last post about this show. I feel that I’ve posted too much about it already.

Bimbos, Boobs and Botox, Starring Bret Michaels

Flipping through the channels once more I came across The Rock Of Love. VH1’s new reality with Poison’s Bret Michaels. I watched about 5 to 7 minutes of this just because stupidity sparks my curiosity.

Honestly I would really like to see what Bret’s hairline looks like under that hat. He never is without it or the bandana. It makes a person wonder. Next I noticed that he looks like he’s had some botox treatments. His face looks like hell and the only thing keeping these girls around is the fact that they are on TV and they actually think that they may have a relationship with this wash-up. And I neglected to mention that some of these women are hideous! I couldn’t watch anymore due to the fact that I had to run to the bathroom and purge my mind off of this mental fecal matter.

Somehow this actually got really good ratings.

Facing Reality: The Rock of Love

So VH1 thought is was necessary to start a new reality show with Poison’s vocalist Bret Michaels. I really didn’t want to feature anything about this because I have never considered Poison to be metal but I do have an opinion on it so I thought “Screw it”, what better reason to bash a washed up glam star.

Anyway this new show will be about Bret Michaels trying to find love like Flava Flave (Flavor Flave, I’m not sure how it’s spelled but who really cares) in the Flava of love. Now I know 99% of you don’t watch this garbage and you’re not missing anything. From what I’ve gathered from the preview, the women he is trying to hook up with are either washed up groupies or just a bunch of blond bimbo sluts. “Whats wrong with that?” you say? Well nothing if we were still in 1988.

Obviously this is another one of those “Comeback” attempts that most of the 80’s glam rock band members do to try to keep them from being a 44 year old burger flipper. I’m tired of seeing these guys trying to bring it back. Have you seen some of the hair-dos these guys are sporting these days. They are kinda like the ‘dos that the younger rockers are wearing, like Medina Lake and crap like that. If you expected me to cover bands like that then you came to the wrong place.

I’m sorry guys but your time is over. Your music will live on in the hearts of the people that loved it then, and they will grow old with you and will be the only ones showing up at your club gigs flashing their saggy breasts and still trying to get backstage by giving your roadies a B.J. as usual. Sorry, you just picked a bad genre of rock that we all knew (maybe except for you) that wouldn’t last.

Glam was only about one thing. Having a good time, partying, getting laid, making bad,flashy music with remarkably bad hair to match, and moving on to the next town to do it all over again. Sorry if your record label, managers and merch. reps robbed you while you were doing all that and now you have nothing to show for but a wore out pair of tiger striped spandex pants.

Bret, who is now 44 years old is looking for a girl who can keep up with his rock and roll life style and not be jealous of his “one true” passion, performing. Whatever, dude. The only thing you’re gonna find on this reality show is a bunch of crazy women who you will find are loopier than Paris Hilton and just as slutty. Maybe next season on VH1 we’ll see Gary Glitter goes back to grade school to find his true love. (Only a few of you will understand that)

Also I wander how far back Brett’s hairline would be if he ever took off that stupid cowboy hate or the bandanna.
