Prosthetic Records News
February 19, 2009 by Scott
I’m kind of catching up on some Prosthetic Records news from the last few days.
First up, Withered will be playing Scion Rock Fest a week from this coming Saturday. They’ll also be playing at the New England HC and Metal Fest this year as well as Blackened Fest. You can find tour dates after the fold.
Skeletonwhich will premiere the first video ever, Sacrifice For The Slaughter God this Friday on Myspace. This is their debut video and the song comes off of Beyond The Permafrost. Look for that tomorrow.
Lastly, Century has changed their line-up a bit. Recently rejoined by original bassist, Ricky Armellino and drummer Grant McFarland, the band has started working on their follow up to Black Ocean.
Win All That Remains Overcome
November 7, 2008 by Scott
I have a copy of All That Remains new album Overcome. It’s an open copy because I had intentions of getting it signed when I interviewed ATR last month. Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but it’s still in mint condition and can be all yours. All you have to do to win is name your favorite ATR song and tell me why you dig that song in the comment section below. Contest open to US and Canadian residents only. Only one entry required but it doesn’t hurt to comment more than once. I’ll pick a winner on November 28th. Enter now!
Also today kicks off All That Remains tour with headliners In Flames and label-mates Gojira, with 36 Crazyfists opening the show. You can check out a tour poster after the fold. Overcome has sold more than 70,000 copies in less than two months since it’s release on September 16th.
Interview Exclusive: Light This City
Yesterday I posted the review to Light This City’s fourth and final album, Stormchaser. So what are the other band members up to now that they have disbanded? I was wondering the same thing myself and seeing that it was getting close to the release date of Stormchaser, I figured there was no better time to contact Ben Murray, one of the founding members and drummer of the band.
MM: It’s been almost 5 months since you announced LTC’s disbanding. What have you been doing since then?
Ben: Well, I personally started attending UC Berkeley in August, so I’m busy with that. I also have an awesome job at Pirates Press, who do all the vinyl manufacturing for all major metal and punk labels. Other than that, jamming on some new music and enjoying life! Laura is bartending and most likely going back to school next year. Jon, Ryan and Brian are all just working and looking for another project.
In Review: Light This City Stormchaser
Earlier this year I caught up with Light This City for an interview when they were on tour with All That Remains, Chimaira and Black Tide. At that time they were touring in support of their third album Facing The Thousand which was also their second with second on Prosthetic Records. Facing The Thousand was released in 2006 and Light This City was in the process of writing and recording their next album shortly after this tour.
After the winter tour with fellow label mates All That Remains, Light This City got in to the studio and started recording Stormchaser. They headed out with God Forbid and Death Angel on the In Thrash We Trust tour early in to the summer but about midway through they announced their plans to disband. Sadly for their many fans, Stormchaser would be the band’s swansong, but the founding members Ben Murray and Laura Nichol had their reasons to disband. You’ll find out more in an interview to be posted later this week.
November 11th will mark the fourth and final release of Light This City and if you’re a fan, then chances are that you’ll be very happy with this album.

Beneath The Massacre: Dystopia Review
October 27, 2008 by Scott
Album: Dystopia
Release Date: October 28th, 2008
Record Label: Prosthetic Records
Mixed by Jason Suecof, mastered by Alan Douches.
Album Art by Felix Rancourt
Last week when I named my ten picks for the best death metal vocals (IGN.Com names 10 Best Death Metal Vocals) I stressed how I enjoy clarity. I like to hear what they are screaming, growling or grunting, if not maybe just a little bit. Let me start off by saying that this is the only thing I don’t like about Beneath The Massacre’s sophomore release on Prosthetic Records, titled Dystopia. It’s not like a totally inaudible sound like some other death metal bands that I’ve heard. It’s just slightly incomprehensible. Dystopia does however has a melodic brutality about it that you don’t get very often.
Exclusive Interview With ATR’s Dynamic Guitar Duo: Oli Herbert And Mike Martin
October 24, 2008 by Scott
As I stated in my last interview with Trivium, the tour manager had some issues with her laptop so there was a lot of waiting around for her to try to get my interviews. I even saw Phil about 10 minutes before my scheduled interview with him and asked him if it was cool to try to get the interview even though the tour manager wasn’t around. He said that he had just woke up and wanted to get something to eat. I was totally understanding and about 20 minutes or so later, the tour manager showed up and I talked to her about my scheduled interviews. I waited around a little while longer and finally got the interview with Corey from Trivium. She said that she would try to get me in with Phil and I waited around for about an hour longer before finally saying screw it and went to get my tickets and photo pass. At the beginning of 36 Crazyfists set She texts me and said she could get me in with Mike Martin so I agreed figuring it was better than no interview at all. She took me up and to my surprise I got to speak to Mike Martin and Oli Herbert as well. They were watching the World Series play-offs, being Boston Red Sox Fans. Oli looked like he was feeling pretty good, but said that he was still recovering from the night before from drinking after they played New Haven Connecticut.
BENEATH THE MASSACRE confirms additional shows upon completion of Cleansing The Nation Tour
October 23, 2008 by Scott
Montreal’s BENEATH THE MASSACRE has confirmed additional shows alongside Emmure upon completion of the current Cleansing The Nation Tour, featuring the two bands alongside headliners Suicide Silence and After The Burial, and Architects. The current tour is in anticipation of the Oct. 28 release of the band’s second Prosthetic Records effort, ‘Dystopia,’ which will see a European release Nov. 10 to coordinate with the band’s next touring run: a month-long trek through Europe as direct support to fellow Canadians Cryptopsy.
Unearth Sells Well, While Gojira…Not As Good
Unearth landed themselves on the Billboard 200 with their first weeks sales of The March clocking in at just under 11,000 copies. This placed them at #45, while France’s Gojira didn’t do so well with their second album on the Prosthetic label, The Way Of All Flesh only selling around 4,200 copies. I thought The Way Of All Flesh would sell much better considering the buzz around this band and the response that their previous album, From Mars To Sirius, received. While 4,200 was still pretty good and enough to land them at #138 on the Billboard 200, it still seems to me that it would
have sold more with all the people on the Internet praising them. However, it’s still early on, so with some touring this album could end up selling much better. If you haven’t checked out The Way Of All Flesh, I highly recommend it especially if you like From Mars To Sirius.
