Megadeth Done With Recording…For Now
February 6, 2009 by Scott
Megadeth are getting ready to head out to Priest Feast with Testament and Judas Priest for two months, so all studio recording will cease until they return in late March. Here is an excerpt from Dave Mustaine’s update from the Megadeth Forums.
I am sitting in my office at 5:30ish AM and am typing this as I try to wake up. Yesterday, Andy Sneap went back to the UK for a while, as we are preparing to go out on the Priest Feast Tour. This means effectively that the recording has stopped, until we return in March/April.
We finished all …read more
Slayer Content On Upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica
December 30, 2008 by Scott
Apparently there will be some Slayer content on Guitar Hero: Metallica. I thought it was pretty cool on Guitar Hero 3 with Reign In Blood. For the haters of Guitar Hero, I say try it out. It’s a fun way to be a part of some of your favorite songs and might actually get you in to some other bands you haven’t heard of. My son loves it and we recently got Guitar Hero: World Tour for Christmas. I said before that it’s a great way for them to learn rhythm and timing and new music. World tour lacks in …read more
Slayer Has Named The New Album
November 24, 2008 by Scott
They just haven’t said what it’s going to be yet. I’m sure it will be about hell, Satan, Jesus-hating, etc. That’s their schtick. Kerry King talked to Metalhammer.de, the German Metal Hammer in a video interview that can be seen here. The questions are translated in English and the video quality is really good.
King says that the summer 2009 release date of their next album is “Optimistic” he also expresses his dislike for Rick Ruben’s producing style, being a “Phantom” producer. Well he’s not the first to say this. Corey Taylor talked about Ruben not being there as often …read more
Is Rick Ruben Becoming A Brand Name?

I was reading an article on Blabbermouth this morning about Rick Ruben. IN particular it was three of the members of Slipknot. Shawn Crahan, Jim Root and Corey Taylor all commented on working with rick and Corey was the only one that didn’t have a lot of good things to say about Ruben. Other artists have said that Rick is rarely in the studio to include most recently, Metallica. Corey Taylor said “And for me, if you’re going to produce something, you’re f*cking there. I don’t care who you are.”
This got me thinking about a few …read more
Kirk Hammet Says Rick Ruben Was Never Around During Recording
Kirk Hammet said in a recent told MTV news that the great thing about Rick Ruben producing the labum was that he was never around. Maybe this is a good thing and maybe a bad thing. Maybe the reason Metallica have been all pussified out for the last 14 years is because Bob Rock was up their asses 24/7 and this time around they are having their own influence on the music again. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. And then after I wrote this I read the following…
“The great thing about working with Rick is he’s never …read more
Metallica Finish Mixing Death Magnetic
August 10, 2008 by Scott
“Today we finished mixing and mastering our ninth studio album of original material, ‘Death Magnetic’, which hits the streets worldwide on Friday, September 12. Plus, you’ll be able to download every song from the album for ‘Guitar Hero III’ on the same day! Produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at Sound City Studios, Shangri La Studios, and our very own HQ. The first track and video, ‘The Day That Never Comes’, will hit the airwaves later this month.”
They played the track Cyanide at last night’s Ozzfest. Some are giving it good reviews and some…not so good. We have a …read more
Metal Shavings, Mourning Edition
July 23, 2008 by Scott
Mourning edition? Yeah, I don’t know. It looked a lot cooler when I typed it up like that. Anyway, I took a day off from work so I’m going to be doing some updates throughout the day with some and I there is a lot of news to cover so instead of stretching it out I thought I would lump most of it in one shot and work on some reviews in between as well as work on some stuff over at The Rock Dose. That page needs some traffic badly so I have to take a little attention away …read more
Some Kind Of Dog Crap! Why Do I Punish Myself With This Garbage?
April 11, 2008 by Scott
I know I said awhile back that I wasn’t going to talk sh*t about Metallica until the new record came out, but once again I was flipping through the channels and what was on VH1 Classics but “Some Kind Of Monster“.
Every time this is on I get pissed off. I get tired of hearing Lars and James argue like a couple of school girls. I get tired of hearing James try to sing Seek And Destroy like a female porn star faking an orgasm. What is it going to take to regain my faith in a band I once …read more
I Am Hated!!! Part 1
March 29, 2008 by Scott
No, not me…but I’m sure there are people out there that do hate me and/or the things I say when I get a bit cynical. But this is not about me in general. As metal fans we are often one minded when it comes to our favorite artist and sometimes find ourselves turning on the artists we once loved. If a band suddenly changes their style the slightest bit we tend to either like the new direction or totally hate it and start hating that band for changing the music we onced loved and turning it into something that …read more
Metallica’s Management Says The New Record Will Be Released When Chinese Democracy Is Released
January 23, 2008 by Scott
When is the new record coming out Lars?
<–Ah doon’t fockin’ know!
Metallica’s management Q-Prime, is now saying that the new record will be released when it is ready. They say the rumors of the February release delay until April…until September are bogus and there never was a solid release date. They say “You can’t have a delay if there is no release date to delay.” In other words we don’t know when the hell the new record will be released. I think they should pull a Radiohead and see what people are willing to pay for it. I’m sure it would …read more
