Boston metallers SHADOWS FALL are pleased to announce their annual hometown holiday concert for December 26^th, 2009. It will take place in Northampton, MA at Pearl Street. Tickets are on sale now and you can purchase yours at :

SHADOWS FALL and Ultimate-Guitar.com are giving you a chance to design your own SHADOWS FALL merchandise item. The guys have set up a few guidelines, read below:

“We’re giving our fans the opportunity to design a new Shadows Fall shirt. Check out the instructions for submitting your design below.

CONTEST STARTS NOW!
We’ve recently launched a merch design contest with Ultimate Guitar and want you to submit your designs for the next Shadows Fall shirt. We wanted to give everyone a chance to submit designs and we have extended the original deadlines.

Here are all the dates and details:

STEP 1: Create a new Shadows Fall design. Final files must be in 300 DPI or higher. Layered photo shop, illustrator, or corel files are best.

STEP 2: Place your design on one of our merch templates. The design needs to have the Shadows Fall logo. You can download the logo and shirt templates here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/c6dm6m. Please, do not send us the artwork file. Only use sendspace.com. All artwork files will be deleted and not entered into the contest!

STEP 3: Upload your file to www.sendspace.com

STEP 4: Email us the link to download your design at shadowsfallbandcontests@gmail.com BEFORE NOVEMBER 29, 2009.

Voting begins at Noon EST on December 2nd, 2009 and ends at Noon EST on December 9th, 2009. Winner will be announced on www.ultimate-guitar.com on 11 AM EST December. 10th, 2009.

We will go through all the submissions and pick our 5 favorite designs. Those designs will be posted on http://www.facebook.com/shadowsfall. Vote for your favorite design and the winner will actually become a real Shadows Fall merch design.

Shadows Fall Front Man Brian Fair Announces Twitter Contest

Hot off the heels of their latest chart topping release Retribution, SHADOWS FALL is currently tearing across the US with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, OTEP AND 2 CENTS. In celebration of the current tour and new CD, SHADOWS FALL singer Brian Fair has come up with a contest for all the fans attending their current tour. Brian had the following to say about the contest:

Shadows Fall “Retribution” #35 on the Billboard Top 200

Shadows Fall Premieres “Still I Rise” Video on Headbanger’s Ball Saturday

Starting this Saturday September 19th ,the new video from New England’s Shadows Fall, “Still I Rise,” will be premiering on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball at 2:00 AM EST. Headbanger’s Ball is MTV2’s weekly hard rock and metal show featuring world premiers of ground breaking videos from today’s metal giants and underground artists.

“Still I Rise” is the first video from the band’s new album, Retribution, which is out now. The video was shot by longtime Shadows Fall director Zack Merck at the Affliction warehouse in southern California, and was shot in the ring with actual Affliction fighters! Fans were invited to come down and rock out, and they received a special place as extras in the video.

The Flood to be Featured on Saw VI Soundtrack

The Flood have just announced that their new song “Lethal Injection” will be included on the latest installment of the SAW movie soundtrack. The SAW VI soundtrack will drop on October 20th via Trustkill Records and will feature exclusive and unreleased tracks from metal heavyweights Everytime I Die, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, and Type O Negative, to name a few. The Flood have just wrapped up their debut record with Sylvia Massy (Smashing Pumpkins, Tool) at her Radiostar Studios in Weed, CA. A massive tour announcement for the Fall is coming soon.

Shadows Fall Perform “Still I Rise” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Last night Shadows Fall performed the first single from their new album Retribution, due out on September 15, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It was a good performance, and I always enjoy watching audiences who don’t listen to metal try to clap along to the songs. Watch the video below!

In other Late Night news, Megadeth will be appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s show on Thursday, September 17th. That should be an awesome performance!

That’s right, it is that time of the month again for another free metal show at Fontana’s Bar (105 Eldridge St., NYC). This time around it is the CD release party for Black Anvil, also playing is Binary Code, and a very special guest that can not be announced… believe me, you don’t want to miss this show. To make this night even better, there will be a guest DJ set from Brian Fair of Shadows Fall. Doors are at 8PM & it is 21+.

Once again, these free metal nights happen the first Thursday of every month at Fontana’s Bar starting at 8PM. Each month is totally different, the only thing that stays the same are the great metal bands that play each time. Hope to see you there!

Shadows Fall Offers ‘King of Nothing’ as Download

Shadows Fall’s King of Nothing is now available to download at Windows MySpace… hurry up and grab it, as this offer ends on Wednesday, August 5th.

Frontman Brian Fair said of the track:

“This song opens with my favorite riff on the record. It came out of Matt’s late night drunken riff bag, and the song built itself around the heavy vibe that it created. It is a four minute beat down!! The lyrics of this song are about the overwhelming self-medication of our world. There is a prescription for every mood these days, and people are turning into zombies. It’s time to toughen up and face your reality, no matter how brutal it may be, otherwise you will just be reigning over a world of nothingness. The bridge features guest vocals from the one and only D. Randall Blythe aka Uncle Goddamn aka The Redneck Assassin of the mighty Lamb of God. Randy came down to the studio in VA to cook us dinner, and we put him right to work behind the mic. We layered his voice with Matt’s and myself to create the three part harmony from hell!!”

Shadows Fall Posts a Track From “Retribution”

Shadows Fall has enlisted D. Randall Blythe of Lamb of God to lend vocals to their track “King of Nothing”, the first released single from the upcoming album “Retribution”. The song gets me pumped to hear more, and I’m definitely going to be picking up their CD on September 15th.

Brian Fair Discusses Upcoming Album With Noisecreep.com

Shadows Fall is set to release their follow up to 2007’s Threads of Life later this year. Threads’ was criticized for sounding to mainstream after it’s release on Atlantic Records, with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has also produced bands such as The Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Rush and Velvet Revolver. Some will argue that the band will never release another The Art Of Balance and I think it’s safe to say that too. Threads was not my favorite album but I enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to their next album.

Brian Fair recently spoke with Noisecreep.com and discussed a few things about their upcoming album and talked about the track-listing and how producers Zuess and Michael “Elvis” Baskette helped make the new album take shape. Below is a brief excerpt of the interview.

“The new Shadows Fall record is a true cross-section of all our influences, past and present,” vocalist Brian Fair, who sports knee-length dreadlocks that are the stuff of legends, told Noisecreep. “We tried to hold nothing back and decided to take chances to avoid putting out a safe, by-the- numbers’ record.” With that statement, Fair has set the bar of fan expectation incredibly high, but the Shads can live up to it.
