]]> Iowa’s own M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan will be making his debut into the world of contemporary art with his first gallery showing.  On September 24th Crahan, best known as the visionary and founding member of hard rock act Slipknot, will host a showing at the Kirkwood Hotel from 7:00pm-12:00am in celebration of his birthday.  The show will feature a wide variety of work by Crahan including a number of acrylic on canvas paintings, framed photography, prints, and some of the Polaroids from his upcoming book, The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey.  Also on display will be the jewelry of Chantel Crahan, paintings by Frank Hansen, and paintings and films by Scott Kaven.  The evening will be curated by the Des Moines based Moberg Gallery.

There will be live entertainment throughout the night as well as food and drinks.  Mike Pfaff and Jeff Karnowski, of Shawn’s band Dirty Little Rabbits, will be performing Jazz/World Music during the evening as well as a second set of cover songs with their group The $nack$.  Also appearing will be DJ Starscream, better known as Sid Wilson DJ of Slipknot, performing with the Sound Proof Coalition.

When asked, Crahan had this to say about the upcoming event,

“My first gallery showing is truly the realization of a lifelong dream. Polaroid photography has helped open the doors in my mind about layering, saturation and backgrounds.  Then of course there’s painting.  I feel as though I’ve waited my whole life to be able to enjoy what I always imagined painting to be.  This is now reality.   Painting is one of the only artistic expressions that brings me ultimate happiness and freedom.  This show is a fun way to have an evening dedicated to the celebration of everyone’s ambitions and love for art, whatever their medium may be.  So, artists everywhere come as you are.”

]]> Slipknot Blabbermouth reports that Slipknot’s Shawn Crahan announced via his twitter that he’s editing video for a DVD for the anniversary of Slipknot’s 10 year release…or something like that.

Also working on the special ten year package for Slipknot today as well! I have been editing a DVD together. Wait until you see this stuff!!

I kind of dig some of Shawn’s photography, just because it’s so abstract and out of the norm. However, Inside The 9 was terrible in my opinion. It wasn’t so much the live and behind the scenes footage, because I always like that kind of stuff. Everything around it though became redundant and annoying to me as a slipknot DVD. Not to mention the lack of a good menu to navigate through the DVD. The DVD that came with All Hope Is Gone special edition was the same way.

Something else I found kind of funny is that Crahan has almost 2000 followers…but chooses not to follow anyone else on twitter.

]]> RWP-000583 Do you think Shawn Crahan is a fan of Baseball.The only reason I ask is because I always see him carrying around that baseball bat in photos. I mean I know he beats on the kegs and shit while on stage, but he also has it for photo shoots. I’m just wondering if he carries it everywhere like he does his camera. Like just in case he comes across a batting cage on tour, he always has his lucky aluminum slugger with him. Also does he use performance enhancing drugs like A-Rod and Clemens? I’m just sayin’.
