Video Blast Zone 10/3 Going Olde School

Ah, to be a teenager again and not have a care in the world. Except maybe what your parents are going to do to you for getting suspended for smoking on school grounds. Or maybe where you’re going to get gas money to get back and fourth from work after school for the rest of the week, after you blew your paycheck on CD’s/Tapes and cigarettes/pot or whatever. Back when a cd didn’t cost much more than 15 bucks, cigarettes were about $1.70 a pack, gas wasn’t much more than a buck a gallon and a dime-bag was a decent amount of weed. Those were the days. But the times have changed, prices for any one of those is much higher and you grow out of certain things…but the videos remain.

Bet you though I forgot about this new feature again like I did last week. Hell you probably forgot about it too. I’m reaching back into some old school metal here. Everything pre-1994. I’m sure you’ve probably seen them all or at least heard the songs, but their still fun to watch, especially the cheesy Holy Wars video. Enjoy.

Sebastian Bach Falls During Performance, Tripped Over His Ego

Sometimes I don’t even have to put forth the effort to make fun of Sebastian Bach. Sometimes he does it for us (For example…Angel Down). I really don’t like to see anyone get hurt, no matter how much of a pompous ass they are, so fortunately Bach wasn’t hurt and was even a good sport about it stating: ‘I meant to do that’. Look for the fall at about 1:48 of this performance of a butchered Skid Row classic “I Remember You“. Sebastian Bach was playing with Dokken and Poison in Los Angeles.

Sebastian Bach’s Angel Down CD/DVD | Now You Can See ‘Suck’ As Well As Hear ‘Suck’.

Sebastian Bach’s Angel Down will release in the UK as a CD/DVD with live footage from the once great singer of Skid Row. The new version of Angel Down will feature a DVD with live footage from shows in Canada, Japan and The United States. So now if you choose to buy the CD you can see suck as well as hear suck. Too bad another washout rock star can’t swallow his pride and reunite with the band that once made some great tunes. But once again, egos are involved and someone is forgetting that it’s not 1990 anymore.

MetalSucks.Net Iron Steel Update

Metalsuck.net recently got an update from Iron Steel Guitarist Tommy Reid. The “Super Group” (I hate that cliche) is made up of members from Sevendust, ex-Megadeth, Chimaira, and Skid Row.

IRON STEEL FEATURES MEMBERS OF CHIMAIRA, SEVENDUST, ex-MEGADETH, AND SKID ROW

Tommy Redd of the new thrash supergroup IRON STEEL has written an exclusive blog entry for MetalSucks. The band also features Morgan Rose (SEVENDUST) on drums; Dave Ellefson (ex-MEGADETH), Jim LaMarca (CHIMAIRA) and Rachel Bolan (SKID ROW) all on bass; along with Redd and vocalist/guitarist Fran Strine. Each week a different member will be posting a blog entry at MetalSucks. This week Redd reports on a recent run-in with Afghani rebels during the band’s tour of Asia. An excerpt from the blog entry follows:

I was really trying not to let anyone suspect I had an other-life, but when Iron Steel toured through Afghanistan, I had to take a band of heavily armed enemy forces using only my guitar strings and Fran walked up to me as I strangled the last rebel and took the bloody string to use on his guitar. Another time I had to use Morgan’s sticks to disembowel someone, he found the guts on them and made me explain (Morgan has torture down to a science – I’m jealous).

So now you know all you can about me without putting your life in danger. I am starting to think that these MetalSucks guys might know too much and may need to be ‘taken care of’. Uh, Vince… Can I talk to you in the back lounge of the deluxe Iron Steel tour bus? Pay no attention to that guitar slide in my hand…

Metal Resolutions | Don’t Hold Your Breath!

Once again it’s theme day at the b5 Media channel and todays theme is Resolutions made by Bands/Stars that will probably be broken. I contacted a publicist for each of the following Bands and/or Stars and asked them if their clients had made any new years resolutions. Here is was they told me!

Zakk Wylde
Resolves to start taking a shower at least once a week, and once a month when touring.

Sebastian Bach
resolved to stop trying to sell us a shitty record and pry his lips off of Axl’s ass.

resolves to stop talking about Chinese Democracy and just release the damn thing so we can all be disappointed already!

Bach and Roses

Well I guess that Sebastian Bach didn’t think his voice sucked enough on his new record so he called in another former excellent vocalist to help make it suck even more. Don’t get me wrong here. I love the old GnR and Skid Row. In their day they were two very unique vocalists but these days…eh..how you say?…not so good.

We all heard Axl Rose bomb on MTV years ago when he first debuted the braids (nothing like a 40 year old, pale irish dude in corn rows). It was supposed to be a big surprise…and it was, SURPRISE: GUNS AND ROSES NOW SUCKS. And we heard how awful Bach is these days from the VH1 Supergroup. Even if they really do suck on the recording, these days you can “Airbrush” if you will, with the technology. Cher is 98 years old and still sounds just as crappy as she did when she did “I got you babe”.

Perhaps Bach thought he needed someone to make him sound good on the record, I don’t know. All I know is that I’ll be spending my money on something more worth while like a The Wiggles Live tickets…or Guitar Hero III. Not sure yet…it’s a tough choice.

“Bas asked me to sing on his new record, ‘Angel Down’, and I agreed and came down to his studio where he played me the tracks. I really liked the title/opening track, ‘Angel Down’, but I didn’t feel that it would be right to be on that one, although, of course, it would’ve been cool because it’s a great rip-your-head-off track!!

“Since this session was rather a more fun atmosphere, the tracks I sang on kind of showed themselves and were also done out of curiosity on the part of Bas, myself, and his producer, Roy Z, just to see if my involvement brought something that worked for the tracks.

“Bas really wanted me on ‘Bitchslap, and I got to try my own ideas on it. We’re not saying much about the second track, as it may be taken a bit further, and when Bas played the third track, ‘Stuck Inside’, he suggested a kind of call-and-answer part. They allowed me the freedom to write my own words and melodies, and although it’s only a couple of lines, it really felt great. The song has such a mean riff, and Bas’ guys were so supportive in so many ways on tour and fun to hang with, that it was great to be a part of something of theirs and I think it really came out strong.

“For me, the three songs together are a good package. They are all different, with different approaches and styles from each other and from material I have on the upcoming GUNS N’ ROSES record. For me, the timing couldn’t be better and I’m quite surprised to be on one song, let alone three!!!

“Bas really knew where he saw my involvement on his album and had different options in mind. He knew what seemed obvious, what would be fun, what would work for his album and what he felt I would like. I really liked the energy of the tracks and since I’m rarely asked to do anything I’d actually enjoy or be glad to be a part of, I’m more than grateful for the opportunity and hope the fans get a kick out of it as well.”
