There will be live entertainment throughout the night as well as food and drinks.  Mike Pfaff and Jeff Karnowski, of Shawn’s band Dirty Little Rabbits, will be performing Jazz/World Music during the evening as well as a second set of cover songs with their group The $nack$.  Also appearing will be DJ Starscream, better known as Sid Wilson DJ of Slipknot, performing with the Sound Proof Coalition.

When asked, Crahan had this to say about the upcoming event,

“My first gallery showing is truly the realization of a lifelong dream. Smokeout Festival will be host to many bands and guest speakers during the two day event, aimed at cannibus workshops, grow tips, and let’s face it… just getting really, really high. Which somehow culminates in Slipknot. Now, I don’t smoke weed anymore. However, I used to smoke a lot. I can’t remember one time that I got blazed out of my mind and said “Hey dudes, let’s put some Slipknot on!”.

Don’t get me wrong, Slipknot is a great band, but when you’re stoned beyond belief? Shit, it was Sublime or freakin’ Slightly Stoopid time for me.

Anyway, some of the bands taking the stage at this two day festival of peace, love and lots of munchies will be:

Slipknot’s bassist Paul Gray has issued the following statement:

“Dear Maggots, let me begin by saying, we are very sorry we had to cancel this leg of the tour. As you know touring is our life, Getting in front of you guys and playing keeps this band ALIVE. So it hurts us and much as you that we had to do this. There are PERSONAL issues in the band that NEED to be taken care of for us to continue touring. Let me emphasize JOEY IS NOT DEAD/DYING, **HE IS FINE**. WE have been working hard for the last year and a half on “The All Hope Is Gone” Touring cycle and it catches up to you, as I said I said earlier but I am very sorry we had to cancel to the 2 week run but are desperately trying to make those shows up in our October tour.

WE ARE NOT CANCELING OUR OCTOBER TOUR, THE BAND IS NOT BREAKING UP, WE ARE ALL ALIVE. I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT, IF YOU DON’T HEAR IT FROM ONE OF US IN THIS BAND THEN IT IS BULLSHIT. WE ARE HUMAN AND SHIT HAPPENS AND THAT’S HOW LIFE GOES BUT WE ARE MAKING THE BEST OF IT RIGHT NOW as should YOU. We will be on the road in October and hopefully we will see you there. For everyone that has sent emails/messages thank you VERY much, They do mean a lot to us. Hang in there we will see you soon.”

It has been reported that drummer Joey Jordison suffered from a burst appendix, prompting the cancellation of Slipknot’s shows through September. Let’s all wish Joey a speedy recovery, and hopefully Slipknot will be back on track in October!

Starting today, Rodrigo y Gabriela are offering a free mp3 to their fans.  “Atman” is a Sanskrit word meaning the only deathless part of the human being.  The song is dedicated to Dimebag Darrel and Alex Skolnick of Testament guests on the track with a guitar solo.  Rod says:

“Dimebag is the best guitarist ever…and having Alex Skolnick playing on this track (Atman) was a dream come true…it’s an incredible solo.”

11:11 was recorded in Ixtapa, Mexico and produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela, with John Leckie co-producing one of the tracks. The album was mixed in Wales and London by Colin Richardson, best known for his work with Slipknot and Trivium. Comprising 11 new original compositions, 11:11 is the band’s personal “gracias” to 11 musicians, both past and present, who have inspired them along the way. Widely-respected acoustic veterans Strunz & Farah also appear on the album. 11:11 is the long-awaited follow-up to their 2006 self-titled debut that has so far enjoyed worldwide sales in excess of half-a-million albums. This has forced us to cancel our headlining shows in Pocatello, ID and Sioux Falls, SD as well. We hope to make up the dates as soon as our touring schedule allows.
