The Flood – Interview With Vocalist Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson, vocalist for The Flood, was kind enough to take some time and answer a few questions for Metal Martyr. The Flood recently wrapped up their 2009 SnoCore tour dates with Static-X and is currently working on their debut album with multi-Platinum, Grammy award winning producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down, Johnny Cash, Smashing Pumpkins).

Eric: Hey Chris, thanks for taking the time to answer some questions. First, could you tell us about The Flood? What’s the meaning behind the band’s name?
Chris: We’re a four piece band.  Ajay Marshall on guitar, Jeff Eason on bass, Nate Minick on …read more

New Releases For 3/17/09

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I’m not Irish but is there a better reason to drink beer and eat corned beef on a Tuesday? There is quite a few new metal albums out today. I’ve had a chance to listen to a few, so I’ll throw a few words in for each.
Razor Of Occam: Homage To Martyrs (Metal Blade Records)
Sounds Like: Black Metal, only better and with a little taste of death and some really ripping solos. If you like traditional black metal but you’re looking for something with a little more substance, Homage To Martyrs is the way to go.

Static-X Stingwray Video

Here is the new video from Static-X featuring Wayne (former porn star) wifey, Tera Wray Static. Now imagine if you will or not, Wayne Static performing in an adult film with his wife with his hair all up done up like that. Could you take him seriously like that, or would it be too much to laugh at? Anyway, here is “Stingwray”, cause you know she hasn’t got enough camera time, right?

Slack When You Can…

Slack When You Can…

That’s my motto. It’s been kind of slow around here lately and the only excuse I have is that I’ve been slacking. Not due to laziness but this week has been strange. For reasons unknown I have had a hell of a time getting quality sleep and it finally caught up with me yesterday and today. I don’t know if it’s due to my body being shocked after I quit smoking on new years and also cut drinking down to almost nothing as well, or what? Anytime I get off to a late start with my (pro)blogging it throws everything …read more

Scrap[ Metal Report 12/17/09

Twice in one week is odd for the report but there are a few things I think are news-worthy but don’t feel like writing extensively about them. Also, I was suppose to go see Mudvayne and Snot tonight and get an interview with Greg Tribbett. Unfortunately some things have come up and I can’t make it. It’s about a three hour drive for me and I would have to leave early and I have something that really needs to get done today. Anyway, here are a few things of interest…

Punisher Warzone Soundtrack Review

Punisher Warzone Soundtrack Review

Over the years we’ve seen many great movie soundtracks with some notable metal bands in the mix. Some of them were all metal and some, mostly metal. What I hate the most is when I get a soundtrack that has songs from a favorite band that is on their latest album and chances are that I already have it. This is kind of the case with the Punisher Warzone.
The first track on it is an original from Rob Zombie. Titled after the movie, Warzone is the electric, techno-metal that you can expect from Rob and it doesn’t sound like …read more
