Corey Taylor Speaks to YoungMinds About His Past

Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) recently spoke to the YoungMinds charity backstage at the Kerrang Awards. In his very heartfelt and sincere statement, he mentions some of the trauma of his youth and discusses his former drug abuse a bit. He then leaves off with a message for anyone out there that is going through rough times, feeling bad or just having a shitty day. Regardless of how you may feel about Slipknot, this is a powerful message for today’s young adults, and it’s nice to see a celebrity that still has the humanity to care about people.

Corey Taylor Hijacks a Chicago Radio Station

Corey Taylor Hijacks a Chicago Radio Station

I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve seen this. Old news, but absolutely hilarious.
About six months ago, Corey Taylor (Stone Sour, Slipknot) was invited to Q101.1 in Chicago to guest DJ. They hooked up his iPod, and he completely took over programming for the next hour. I don’t want to ruin it for you by mentioning some of the hilarity that ensues, let’s just say that Corey has obviously practiced some of Michael Jackson’s dance moves.
Two key points… I want a t-shirt that says “I will punch you in the taint” now, and I have GOT to see …read more

Corey Taylor Looking To Release Solo Album

Corey Taylor has said in the past that if Slipknot were ever to disband then he would go on doing his own thing in the form of acoustic guitars and such. Well Slipknot isn’t disbanding but Taylor is talking about releasing a solo album anyway. Blabbermouth reports:
He says, “It’s something that I’d like to do purely for myself. It’s something that I need to release before I can think about moving on to anything else… In both SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR I’m slightly limited to how I can write and indeed what I can write about. The beauty of …read more

New Stone Sour In 2010?

New Stone Sour In 2010?

So Josh Rand of Stone Sour made the following statement about the future of Stone Sour:
“Our tentative plan is to start rehearsals for the new album in the fall of 2009, hit the studio at the beginning of 2010, and release around summer time. I have to say that all of us are really thrilled about having Roy [Mayorga, drums] in the writing process this time around. I’ve heard song ideas from everyone, and I have a feeling this could be the most diverse STONE SOUR album yet!”

Am I looking forward to a new Stone Sour? Sure. I …read more

Corey Taylor Doesn’t Have A Clue What’s Out There

Blabbermouth posted a quote this morning that said this:

“Why would you blame [people who download music]?” Taylor said. “Half the fucking albums that are out there are shit. I don’t download, but at the same time, I don’t buy new music ’cause it all sucks. Okay, there’s a handful of bands that I buy, but other than that, I just buy old shit because old shit is good. Sorry!
“People wanna blame the decline of album sales on downloading, I think it’s actually the record companies’ fault,” he added. “I think it’s the quality of the product. If record companies …read more

Review: Slipknot ‘All Hope Is Gone’

Review: Slipknot ‘All Hope Is Gone’

All Slipknot fans have been waiting a long time for this. The release of a new Slipknot album. I had a fix with Mayhem Fest, but I’ve been eager to listen to what they had to offer. I’m one of those Slipknot fans that doesn’t really care what people think of them. I’ve liked the progression as a band since their debut with Roadrunner Records (yeah, blah, blah, blah. I know about MFKR) and you can only say that they have come a long way musically over the years. With every album they start to sound more and more …read more

Slipknot – Psychosocial

Slipknot – Psychosocial

As usual I am behind on things. Slipknot’s new single ‘Psychosocial’ came out on Tuesday and I can’t seem to figure out where to download (legally) it so I had to find it on Youtube to listen to it streaming. The single ‘All Hope Is Gone’ was pretty cool. Heavy as expected with everything the nu-metal haters like to bitch about. I honestly don’t think this album can be bad. I’ve liked every album they have released so far. Mate-Feed-Kill-Repeat leaves a bit to be desired and if anyone ever says that that was their best release they only …read more
