Corey Taylor wed Stephanie Luby at Vegas’s Palms Hotel, where the couple marched down the aisle to Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls”.

350 guests packed the hotel’s Pearl Concert Theater, where Camp Freddy’s Billy Morrison acted as minister.

About six months ago, Corey Taylor (Stone Sour, Slipknot) was invited to Q101.1 in Chicago to guest DJ. They hooked up his iPod, and he completely took over programming for the next hour. I don’t want to ruin it for you by mentioning some of the hilarity that ensues, let’s just say that Corey has obviously practiced some of Michael Jackson’s dance moves.

Two key points… I want a t-shirt that says “I will punch you in the taint” now, and I have GOT to see Sandra Bullocks’ feet. Watch the video, you’ll understand.

The ride starts this year at 2:30pm at the Longhorn Harley-Davidson/Buell located at 2830 W. Interstate 20, Grand Prairie, TX. This ride will be 38 miles long, with a special trip past Dimebag’s house and studio, and end up at The Palladium Ballroom, located at 1135 S. Lamar in Dallas, TX.

At 6:00pm, the BBQ & Bash All Star Jam begins, hosted by Jose Mangin and featuring performances by Souless Intent, Bound, and Texas Hippie Coalition. The all star lineup includes appearances by Ace Frehley (KISS), Corey Taylor (Slipknot and Stone Sour), Aaron Lewis (Staind) and members of Shinedown, Snot, Machinehead, Buckcherry, Testament and more.

All the proceeds from Ride For Dime go to several charities, including Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Covenant and Little Kids Rock.

He says, “It’s something that I’d like to do purely for myself. It’s something that I need to release before I can think about moving on to anything else… In both SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR I’m slightly limited to how I can write and indeed what I can write about. The beauty of doing a solo album is that I can write whatever type of song I want.”

The article also mentions that he has about 40 songs under consideration for the album. Personally I hope it is mostly acoustic driven. I like 99% of the acoustic or mellow songs on all the Stone Sour and Slipknot albums and I’m pretty sure if they are anything like those that this would be a great album. Of course it probably wouldn’t get the recognition it might deserve due to the fact that it’s “The Slipknot Singer”, so people would just assume write it off. We’ll have to wait and see what goes down.

Note: This (Vol. 3) was by far my favorite era of masks.

“Our tentative plan is to start rehearsals for the new album in the fall of 2009, hit the studio at the beginning of 2010, and release around summer time. I have to say that all of us are really thrilled about having Roy [Mayorga, drums] in the writing process this time around. I’ve heard song ideas from everyone, and I have a feeling this could be the most diverse STONE SOUR album yet!”

Am I looking forward to a new Stone Sour? Sure. I was looking forward to a new Slipknot too and that ended in slight disappointment. I’ve never listened to a Slipknot album so little before. What I’m hoping is that it’s not another rushed album because I’m sure Jim Root and Corey Taylor will want to take some time off after the Slipknot tour. I’m hoping there is a lot of time and effort put into it. I thought Come (What)Ever May was a good album but not as good as their first. I just hope this one is better than their last and way better than All Hope Is Gone.

To this a million Blabberbrats said the same thing over and over: Guess you don’t buy your own music, cause it’s shit. Mallcore, Slipknot sucks, etc, etc.

Anyway, myself and many other people have said this a million times, with the exception of ‘I don’t buy new music ’cause it all sucks.‘. I don’t mean any disrespect but obviously Corey is too tied up with performing and recording to actually see what else is out there. That or his taste in metal is very limited. I was in the same state of mind for years. I had no idea how much really good stuff was out there until I started really looking and listening to other people. However he is right about labels big and small signing just about anything with a slight hook while talented bands get brushed aside. These days it seems for every good band there is 3 shitty bands.

That’s the biggest problem with modern rock. You have so many crap bands out there selling a cd with one or two good singles and the rest is filler crap. Seriously, how many NEW modern mainstream acts do you hear on the radio these days? Very few and they play a lot of older rock stuff. You know I can’t blame people for downloading either, but with all the resources to preview albums these days, you can’t really use the excuse above. You can preview stuff on iTunes or Myspace and if you like it you can buy the cd or download the individual song on iTunes. But people would still rather get something for nothing.

When Vol. 3 was released people bitched and complained that it had too much of a Stone Sour sound to it. I like both bands, as I’ve said before so this wasn’t a problem for me. However I really didn’t see it so much as a Stone Sour sound as much as I thought of it as a new era for Slipknot. With All Hope Is Gone, it’s a bit different. It’s got a lot of Stone Sour sound to it, but not in a good way and not in a bad way. So first and foremost, if you don’t like Vol. 3 or Stone Sour then chances are you won’t like All Hope Is Gone. Let’s go track by track and make it fairly quick with each.

We’ll skip .execute. and go right to Gematria (The Killing Name), the first of many heavy tracks but sounds a bit flat until the chorus. A few other songs have this effect on this album. When I say flat, I mean there is no good rhythm hook before the chorus. Sulfur is a cool tune with great rhythm but this is where the Stone Sourness begins. The chorus sounds a bit like something from  Come What(ever) may. Now I’m not saying that this is bad, but there is more SS to come. Everyone has heard Psychosocial, so I don’t feel I need to go over that one. Dead Memories is another SS (Stone Sour) sounding tune. In fact the vocal rhythm almost sounds like ‘Your God’, but progressively get’s better with the chorus line. Vendetta sounds a bit more like a rock song, with a fist raising chorus. Not as heavy as most would like it, but just wait until we get towards the end of the album before we talk about lack of heaviness. The Butcher’s Hook…I don’t like this song and that’s something that I really have never said about a Slipknot song. Gehenna is where it start to slow down drastically, in an eerie way with a strange almost Jonathan Davis sounding chorus. Another song I’m not really fond of. This Cold Black picks things back up and gets them moving again. Ok, this is starting to sound like a Slipknot album again, but in a rushed sense. I’ll explain that a bit more later. Wherein Lies Continue is kind of boring. Repetitive until the chorus and then boring again. Now Snuff is a great song. A mellow, Corey singing his heart out song. If you like the slower tunes where Corey really shows is vocal talents in a ballad, then this is one you will dig. It’s a rather touching song and sounds out of place on a Slipknot album. All Hope Is Gone…same as Psychosocial, we’ve all heard it.

As far as the bonus track go, Child Of Burning Time is another Corey singing song and is a cool SS sounding track. Vermillion Pt. 2 Bloodstone mix was on the Underworld 2 soundtrack, so if you heard it there it’s the same. Til We Die. Yet another mellow Corey singing tune, but a cool one and sounds and read as if he’s talking about how strong the cohesion of the band when he says: “My Last True Confession Will Open Your Eyes/ I’ve Never Known Trust Like The 9 (With the 9 in a circle)? Let It Be Spoken.”.

So let me break it down a bit. The entire album is not Slipknot’s best work and a lot of songs sound out of place. A lot of the songs sound like they were written very quickly and I don’t think I like Dave Fortman producing any more than Jim Root does. I think the band has progressed musically and they should try different things, but I just think that this was rushed and thrown together all too quickly. We know in the last four years that Slipknot have not been together in the studio working on these tracks. A lot of the band members have been out doing their own thing, so that’s also part of my thinking that it was rushed. I’m still a fan, but I think this album is lacking a lot. I expected to get this album and be all psyched and blown away, but no. The best thing about All Hope Is Gone are the slower songs. I feel a lot of Slipknot fans will be greatly disappointed with this album. Did I mention that this album sounds rushed?

3 out of 5 for me, and I’m being generous.

So what do I have to say about Psychosocial? It’s a bit different from anything on Vol. 3. The lyrics and vocals through the first verse just don’t seem to grasp you at first. Kind of like All Hope Is Gone. The first verse of that I wasn’t really diggin, but then it quickly grows on you. Psychosocial will throw you for a loop when the first chorus kicks in and it has a more Stone Sour sounding chorus. No big deal to me, I like Stone Sour as well, but it almost sounds like it doesn’t fit at first. the second verse hits and I was pretty much hooked. The second verse flows a lot better and when the chorus hits for the second time I find it much better than the first time around and a killer solo to follow. Corey Taylor’s voice sounds deep and rough, and I think it will sound great on the rest of the record as well. I’m going to say what everyone else is saying. These are the first two singles off of the album and if they are the worst two songs then I think we have something great to look forward to in August.
