Skeletonwitch To Appear at NYC’s “Blackened Music Series”

Ohio’s SKELETONWITCH will bring their brand of “blackened thrash” to NYC’s acclaimed “BLACKENED MUSIC SERIES” on November 14. The show will take place at Brooklyn’s Union Pool and will also feature Relapse’s BLACK ANVIL and is part of “THE BLACKENED WEEKEND,” which will also feature appearances from RWAKE, KRALLICE, SHRINEBUILDER and more. Previous installments in the series have featured the likes of REPULSION, PIG DESTROYER, BRUTAL TRUTH, SUNN, EARTH and PELICAN.

‘WITCH guitarist Scott Hedrick commented;

“We’re very pleased to be a part of the Blackened Music Series. Blackened is relatively new and has already put together some great shows. And we’re stoked to play with Black Anvil who we’ve heard great things about. See you in Brooklyn”

This show falls the day after the band will wrap up two months of touring the US supporting CHILDREN OF BODOM, then THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. The band will then head to Europe for a co-headlining tour with old friends TOXIC HOLOCAUST and GOATWHORE.

Skeletonwitch’s “Breathing the Fire” Scorches The Billboard Charts

SKELETONWITCH’s new effort, “Breathing The Fire,” sold 3,500 copies in its first week of release, landing at number #151 on the Billboard Top 200 and #2 on the magazine’s Heatseekers Chart. The album was recorded in Seattle with acclaimed producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, High on Fire). The band spent the last month on the road with Children of Bodom and are now supporting The Black Dahlia Murder alongside Toxic Holocaust and labelmates Trap Them. They will then head to Europe for a co-headline tour with Toxic Holocaust and Goatwhore.

Guitarist Scott Hedrick said,

“We’re completely fucking stoked! It’s always nice to see hard work come to fruition. I never thought Skeletonwitch would end up on the Billboard charts! We knocked Uncle Kracker out of his spot from last week! Ha! In all honesty, though, it’s still just a number, and we do this shit because we love it and couldn’t do any of this without the support of metal fans. That means the most to us! That support is truly appreciated! See you out on the road!”

The band’s new video for the track “Repulsive Salvation” is up now on Prosthetic’s site. SKELETONWITCH filmed the video in Brooklyn, N.Y. at the Lucky 13 Saloon with director David Brodsky (Suicide Silence, The Black Dahlia Murder, Unearth).

Skeletonwitch to Release “Breathing the Fire” Tuesday

SKELETONWITCH is almost ready to unleash their metal masterpiece Breathing the Fire on October 13^th via Prosthetic Records. Breathing the Fire is the follow up to the band’s critically acclaimed album, Beyond the Permafrost (Prosthetic Records, 2007). The Athens, OH based band traveled to Seattle, WA to record with producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, High On Fire). The album was mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer.

SKELETONWITCH have been documenting the making of the album with the posting of webisodes shot during the recording of the album. The band has just posted the fourth studio webisode from the Breathing the Fire sessions with producer Jack Endino. This addition focuses on new bass player, Evan “Loosh” Linger. It can be seen at prostheticrecords.com.

Drummer, Derrick “Mullet Chad” Nau is contributing a tour blog to Sick Drummer Magazine’s website. His first three contributions can be view at sickdrummermagazine.com.

The band will also be doing an in-store appearance this Sunday, October 11^th at Vacation Vinyl, located at 4679 Hollywood Blvd. The show starts at 5pm and space inside the store in very limited Breathing the Fire vinyl will be available at the show. The Black Dahlia Murder Cracks the Top 50 in Billboard’s Top 200 Chart with “Deflorate”

Metal Blade Records is very proud to announce that death metal act The Black Dahlia Murder have cracked the top 50 in Billboard’s Top 200 chart coming in at #43 with the release of Deflorate. The album dropped on September 15th in North American and sold over 12,000 units in just its first week of release making it the band’s strongest first week to date.

In addition to hitting the #43 position in Billboard’s Top 200 charts, The Black Dahlia Murder came in at #5 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart, #4 on Billboard’s Top Hard Music Albums chart, and #50 on HITS Top 50 Albums chart. The carnage doesn’t stop here though as The Black Dahlia Murder’s Deflorate also landed on Canada’s Billboard Charts coming in at #52 in the Top 200 chart, #3 in the Top Independent Albums chart, and #6 in the Top Hard Music Albums chart.

Skeletonwitch Launch Studio Video and iTunes Preorder

Skeletonwitch have launched the first in a series of webisodes documenting the recording of their upcoming full length Breathing the Fire (October 13, Prosthetic Records) with producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, High On Fire, Toxic Holocaust). It can be viewed at prostheticrecords.com.

The band has also announced iTunes pre-order is now available for Breathing the Fire. The iTunes version includes an exclusive bonus track called, “Only No Rest for the Dead.” It can be ordered here.

The Black Dahlia Murder Forced to Cancel Tour

The Black Dahlia Murder was all set to tour with Slipknot in the coming months. As many of you know, Slipknot had to cancel the remainder of their tour, due to an unnamed illness or accident involving drummer extraordinaire Joey Jordison. Because of this, The Black Dahlia Murder has also had to cancel these dates, and made the following statement regarding the cancellation:

“We are sorry to those who were looking to see us in the next few weeks with Slipknot. Unfortunately Slipknot has canceled the tour. This has forced us to cancel our headlining shows in Pocatello, ID and Sioux Falls, SD as well. We hope to make up the dates as soon as our touring schedule allows. We will still be playing tonight in Spokane, WA at the Big Dipper. Again we apologize to anyone who was planning on coming out, its completely out of our control. Hopefully we will see some of you when we’re out with Children Of Bodom and Skeletonwitch in Sept/Oct or on our headlining tour with Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust and Trap Them in Oct/Nov. Thanks for understanding.”
