Between trying to get my review up for the new Gojira The Way OF The Flesh CD to Beneath The Massacre’s Dystopia that I just got in the mail, I find almost little time to get in to one thing before moving on to the next. I don’t expect myself to be able to keep up with everything as well as catch up on some cool metal that I have missed out on in the past decade or so. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying. Sometimes it’s tough to pace yourself and not forget about the last thing you were listening to when something new comes along and with the way good bands have been releasing CD’s this year it doesn’t make thing any easier. I planned on getting a review for Gojira up over the weekend but I took it easy. The Way Of The Flesh review will be posted tomorrow for sure.

Gojira’s newest release on Prosthetic Records titled The Way Of The Flesh will be released on October 14th. I have heard it thoroughly through and I’m going to try to run a review of it early next week. Gojira is wrapping up the finishing touches on their video for the first single, Vacuity. In my opinion this is not the best song on the album. While Vacuity is a good, solid song, I don’t think it’s the best on the album. I much prefer Oroborus or Adoration For None (featuring Randy Blythe).

Just a few things to close out the week. It’s been a hectic two weeks here but some good things have come about. This week has been a very busy run-around week and I haven’t been able to post as many good quality posts here. With the server issues finally being ironed out from the beginning of this month to the stupid pop-ups being fixed, this whole month has been kind of crazy. Not to mention both of my kids got sick last week so my hands have been pretty full. Hopefully next week things will run a lot smoother. Much more after the fold…

Death Magnetic was finally released and aside from all the trash-talk and anticipated disappointment, I actually kind of like most of it. I listened to it the other night from beginning to end while working. Still have a problem with James Hetfield’s vocals at some points and hate where some of the songs go after the first 4 minutes but it’s much better than anything they have done in a long time. I never thought I would actually like any new Metallica that would come out these days but every now and then I have to be truthful and admit when I’m wrong. It’s not some epic metal, but as I said, it’s better than most anything they have done in a long time and that’s more than most expected.

Finally got my review for All That Remains’ Overcome out and I can’t get some of the choruses out of my head, like the one in Chiron. A bit different from their last three but that’s a really good thing.

I got an advance copy of Tom Morello’s new Nightwatchman solo album to review at the rock dose. That’s a really cool album, nothing like anything Rage has done and Tom has a rather nice voice.

Also got an advance of David Gilmour’s Live In Dansk, Poland that is simply amazing. If you dig Pink Floyd or live Pink Floyd you might want to check that out when it hit’s the stores. Richard Wright, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd died on Monday from cancer. He performed on the CD/DVD as well.

I never did get around to posting my reviews for Prosthetic Record’s artists Antagonist and Book Of Black Earth and I just received Gojira’s new album The Way Of The Flesh in the mail today. So far that’s a really cool album too. Chances are if you like Gojira and From Mars To Sirius you’ll like The Way Of The Flesh. I’ll try to get those reviews up by mid-week.

I picked up Amon Amarth’s 2004 release Fate Of Norns. I’m not feeling it as much as With Oden On Our Side, but it’s still a good album. Also picked up Suffocation’s latest release on Relapse Records. If you’re in to good brutal deathmetal/Grindcore You’ll probably like that as well. Check it out sometime.

AC/DC has been kickin’ ass on the charts with a lot of their older stuff and with their new/old DVD ‘No Bull’

GOJIRA frontman talks about new album, the state of Earth, pronouncing the name
France’s metal titans GOJIRA are currently finishing the band’s forthcoming album, ‘The Way of All Flesh,’ which is currently slated for an October 14 release in North America through Prosthetic Records. The follow-up to the critically-acclaimed ‘From Mars To Sirius,’ the album will be available throughout Europe one day earlier through Listenable Records.

GOJIRA frontman Joe Duplantier recently spoke with MTV’s Chris Harris about the upcoming record. An excerpt from the conversation: “That’s the theme — it’s about death itself,” explained. “It’s also about the immortality of the [...]
Post from: Metal Martyr

GOJIRA frontman Joe Duplantier recently spoke with MTV’s Chris Harris about the upcoming record. An excerpt from the conversation: “That’s the theme — it’s about death itself,” explained. “It’s also about the immortality of the soul. That’s the main subject for us. Since we started to play and release albums, we’ve always talked about the same thing: the soul.

“This album’s got a more dramatic feel to it, and some of the lyrics are almost cynical,” continued Duplantier. “Usually, with my lyrics, I’m always positive. But on this album, I’m so pissed off with the situation on Earth right now, how we’re abusing so much, and we take everything that we can take from the ocean, and we kill off endangered species. So in some of the songs, it’s almost like a requiem for the Earth. This record is a lot darker — like, a lot darker, I would say. The music is darker and more violent.” To read the article in whole, visit this week’s edition of MTV’s Metal File (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1589683/20080619/id_0.jhtml).
