Kristen Randall Leaves Winds of Plague, Appears in Inked Magazine and on LA Ink

Los Angeles based keyboardist Kristen Randall moves ahead from a 2 year stint in symphonic hardcore death metal outfit, Winds of Plague.

Kristen Randall states:

“I have decided to leave my current position as keyboardist with Winds of Plague and I’d like to personally thank each member of the band, as well as all of our fans. These experiences we shared have been such a huge part of my life the past couple years and I will cherish that forever. I wish the band the best of luck in their future endeavors. As for myself, music is my deepest passion and I look forward to working with musicians who have the same work ethic and honorable disposition.”

Upcoming events featuring Kristen Randall is TLC’s hit cutting edge tattoo documentary show; LA Ink with Kat Von D and will be aired in February 2010. Kristen Randall is also featured on the upcoming cover of Rebel Ink as well as an extensive spread in the Dec/Jan issue of Inked Magazine. The issue hits streets on December 15^th.

Scrap Metal Report 8/22

I gotta tell you, this has been a long week. Waiting for the week and my employment with a company that I have been with for almost three years come to an end, has been kind of nerve racking. This is a big chance I’m taking but I hope it will all be worth it. With that said, I’m sitting here sucking down some Heinekens and wrangling up some metal news for you.

Metallica’s new single “The Day That Never Comes” has been getting a lot of mediocre reviews. Metalsucks.net posted a bunch of other sites reviews, to include my own (while pointing out my Grammatik flaws). A lot of people hated the reviews and it was mainly one person just re-posting stupid comments under different names. I got called fat, lazy and was even accused of living with my parents. The fact is that listening to Metallica these days is like wiping your ass with your left hand (Right, whichever is your less dominant), It just doesn’t feel right but you know it has to be done. I can’t wait until this is released and I don’t feel the need to talk about it anymore.

Killswitch Engage are set to hit the studio in October for a hopeful spring ‘09 release. Yes, I will be looking forward to that.

Sharon Osbourne is writing a fiction novel. It’s called “I’m A Good Mother”

Rob Halford said “I don’t think a straight man could do my job.” To that I say ‘Rob, no one can do your job.’ Although Nostradamus was not what I expected, it’s still an amazing (very long) but amazing record.

Winds Of Plague Fired Their Drummer. I got to see them play two lousy songs that the crowd loved for 6 minutes. That was the highlight of my Thrash And Burn experience. I missed Arsis, I was pissed, bought their cd.

All That Remains posted their new video for Chiron off of their upcoming Overcome release on September 16th. I really dig it.

Blackest Of The Black Tour Rides Once More

Glenn Danzig’s Blackest Of The Black tour will be this October and November and will feature Danzig headlining, of course along with Dimmu Borgir, Winds Of Plague, Moonspell and Skeletonwitch. Pretty cool line up if you ask me. Tour dates have yet to be announced. You can learn more at the link below and I’ll be trying to keep things updated as time passes.

The mastermind of the Blackest Of The Black tour, Glenn Danzig was quoted as follows.

“It will be nice to get back to many of these cities that I have not been to in some time and do the live show for all the people who’ve followed my music all these years. I’m also very happy to have DIMMU BORGIR sharing the stage this time as they are one of my favorite bands and always wanted them on Blackest of The Black. Should be an incredible 20th anniversary tour.”

DIVINE HERESY Check in with some Updates

While Dino Cazares and DIVINE HERESY are currently on a two-week headlining tour with label mates SWORN ENEMY, the run will end just before the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival on April 27th. Of course, we didn’t know this until just last week, but this is no coincidence, as the band is now set to play third to last that night at New England, directly before Meshuggah and Ministry. The fest is one of North America’s biggest metal-related events so this is definitely a big deal for the guys. “This’ll be our biggest gig in America yet,” Cazares says. “Soon after, we’ll join ARCH ENEMY, DARK TRANQUILLITY and FIREWIND for what should be a very memorable tour.”
To coincide with the touring the band just posted a new commercial online. Head over to Youtube by clicking below and check it out yourself. More instructional video lessons from Cazares and drummer Tim Yeung are on the way and will be posted soon along with new jam sessions.

EMBRACE THE END Check in with some Updates

Although these guys released their debut album under the now defunct Abacus brand, EMBRACE THE END are still under the CM umbrella and, even more importantly, still playing incredibly spazzed-out technical metal that defies both description and comparison. Fortunately, there are a few other like-minded revolutionaries out there, including their own label mates in ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS, whom they happen to be taking out on the road with Carnifex, Conducting From the Grave and Broadcast the Nightmare in the summer. Ley Lines is EMBRACE THE END’s first official release as a CM band and the result, from the cover art by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Trivium) to the Zach Ohren (As Blood Runs Black, Arsonists Get All the Girls) production job and the MUSIC itself, is pretty friggin’ spectacular. If you were with the band in their Abacus days for Counting Hallways to the Left then you know how deft this band can be in melding technical death metal, grind and hardcore. WINDS OF PLAGUE Post ‘Making of’ Footage For New Video

WINDS OF PLAGUE is quickly becoming one of the most talked about new bands in metal. The band, who recently released ‘Decimate the Weak’, has been on the road non-stop this year with no signs of slowing down.
