The Acacia Strain: Continent
If you’re a fan of The Acacia Strain then there is not doubt that you liked their new release ‘Continent‘. I didn’t expect anything less. They have a formula that works and they stick to it. Whether you want to call them Deathcore, metalcore, whatever, you know it’s going to be heavy. You know your going to hear a lot of that “Brown note” and you know the lyrics are going to violent and relentless. Normally with a band I’m in to I will pick up the cd’s on the day of release, and sometimes labels will send them to me for review before they’re released. This time some wires got crossed. I was expecting it but it never came until today and I’m happy it did!
So with no surprise, really, when I sat here about an hour ago and started listening, I was hooked. You’ve probably already read most of the reviews so I’m not going to bother trying to sit here and break things down, but I will say this:
It’s hard, heavy, straight to the point, has great rhythm and leads and the lyrics are nothing short of “did he just really say that?”. You know what I’m talking about. It’s The Acacia Strain. “Baby, You’d look good in a dumpster.” and that’s just quoting the tame lyrics!
