The Legion Of Hetheria | Doom/Death/Goth/Opera…WHAT?
Perhaps my choice of words to try to explain The Legion Of Hetheriaare a bit wacky, but that’s kinda what it sounds like to me. Renaissance Recordssent me a handful of cd’s yesterday in the mail. This is the one that really caught my ear. The Legion Of Hetheria is a five piece band out of Mexico City, Mexico. You got Ricardo Loera on guitars, clean & tenor vocals, Death metal style vocals, and synths. Then you have Maria Victoria Perez who just has amazing soprano opera style vocals. Jassir Guarnero on Bass, Jorge Alvarez on guitars and Jesus Loera On drums.
With this mix what you get is a doom/Gothic sound complimented with tenor, clean, death-metal (Extreme, whatever) vocals, with a soothing Soprano vocal to boot. So you get DDGO, Death/Doom/Goth/Opera rock/metal. Kind of a mouth full but if you heard it you would have a hard time trying to explain it as well. It’s like nothing I’ve heard before…or at least nothing I’ve listened to before. It’s heavy and enticing, yet soothing and robust! (WTF does that mean? I don’t know, it just sounded good). Almost like Evanescence and Six Feet Under collaborate or something. Really cool.

I’m always open to listen different metal style’s but i never thought that we have this kinds of bands in Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (a.k.a. Mexico) i always knew about European Bands of this style. I don’t know, but maybe this one is kind of weird to me. I know Metal and Hardcore is growing over there. The Only Metal Hispanic Band I know is Dias de Agonia, from Costa Rica. but i think they broke up.
