The Red Chord And Walls Of Jericho At Mayhem Fest

August 3, 2008 by Scott

the red chord 1 The next bands on the bill I wanted to cover were The Red Chord and Walls Of Jericho. I got to see The Red Chords’ set kind of late, got some pictures and then had to run to the Rockstar Energy tent to get to Machine Head’s signing session. I got to their set kind of late because my son and I were hungry so I paid 16 bucks for two slices of Papa John’s pizza. Bottled water was 4 bucks a pop and this is where I think most of my money went to. They had all the Rockstar Energy Drink you could suck down for free inside a barricade but I think I drank 2 or three of those and when you crash it doesn’t feel good.

the red chord 3 The Red Chord were awesome to say the least. I have Prey For Eyes but I’m still kind of new to them so I don’t really know the song titles and such. Regardless it was a cool and heavy show with a lot of pits in the crowd. During the show Guy Kozowyk talked about how bands fans are nicknamed like Slipknot fans are Maggots and 5 Finger Death Punch has the Knuckleheads. He goes on to say that The Red Chord doesn’t have names for their fans so he would call them the “Chordians….or how about the Chodians”, “You Like Chodians better? Fine. You’re now all Chodians”

walls of jericho 1 The Next band I caught was Walls Of Jericho. Airbourne canceled and 36 Crazy Fists was on during the Machine Head signing and I wasn’t really interested. I really didn’t have a lot of interest in Walls Of Jericho but when they started playing that all changed. The crowd loved them and this was the last time I was allowed to go beyond the barrier and get pictures. I gotta say, this chick’s got a strange cuteness about her. I’m not into red-heads or women with a lot of tattoos but there was something that was kind of sexy about here up there screaming into the mic.

Somewhere in between set-ups, the Metal Mulitia crew started screwin’ around jumpin’ their bikes and showing off. Yeah…it was pretty damn cool.

walls of jericho was one of the best concerts i’ve ever gone too. always a really intense show. but the singer used to be really butch, but she changed after the last album.

metal mulitia is always awesome to see, i got to catch a few of their shows when a friend of mine was trying out for a permanent spot. though i’m easily impressed by most of those stunts just for the mere fact that i’m lucky to go around a track once hahah
