The Scrap Metal Report 4/14/09
April 14, 2009 by Scott
Some days the metal news flows while other days it’s a slow crawl. Yesterday was one of those slow crawl days. Overnight things can change and looking through my RSS this morning there is some news of significance to include band members quitting and being replaced like it’s the cool thing to do.
- The Showdown have announced that they are replacing their Drummer and bass player. Drummer AJ Barrette and bassist Eric Koruschak have parted ways and have been replaced with Yogi Watts of Demonhunter fame and Jeremiah Scott. The announcement said that Eirc And AJ wanted to spend more time with their families.
- The singer for Adler’s Appetite, the Guns N’ Roses Cover band with former GNR drummer Steven Adler, has also left, but I think that was only a temporary thing to begin with. Sheldon Tarsha performed with the band on a 21 date tour and is returning to his original band, Tarsha.
- Victor Brandt, bass player for Satyricon has quit. No real details as to his reason for leaving.
- Eric Blair Of “Blairing Out” interviewed a bunch of bands on “The Black Carpet” of last weeks Revolver Golden God Awards as did Frank and Rob from Metal Injection.
- Lastly Anvil’s new Rockumentary Anvil! The Story Of Anvil did well in the box office over the weekend, surprisingly beating the Hanna Montana movie. I don’t know much about Anvil. I had a cassette of their’s once, a long time ago. I had just bought Megadeth’s Peace Sells on cd and had a few bucks left over and found a tape of them in a cut-away bin. Peace Sells was my favorite Megadeth album and Anvil’s tape got overshadowed by it. I remember listening to it a few times but I don’t remember if I liked it much. I think it was their Pound For Pound album. That was like 20 years ago and I have no clue where that tape could be now.
