These 37 Seconds Are Better Than All 62 Minutes Of Odd Senses

February 26, 2009 by Scott

This video was just up at Metalsucks.net a couple of days ago, but I didn’t watch it until MM reader “Tom” commented and left a link in the 7-String guitar post. This is Scott Plummer of Technical/Progressive-Death Metal band Viraemia in the studio shredding it up on his 73 string bass (I think it’s actually 11 strings) for a song called “Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation“. Even though on their Myspace they list Psyopus as one of their influences, this dude beats the hell out of anything I heard Chris Arp do on Odd Senses. I haven’t heard anything else of theirs, but the song sounds like it has some structure and control to it too, although it is kind of hard to tell from the video. Viraemia is out of Arizona and is currently unsigned.

And here is the guitar player, Josh, recording the beginning of the same song. The only complaints that I have is 1.) I can’t do this kind of shit, and 2.) some of it get’s a little too repetitive for my taste. But it’s still pretty cool and both show great precision and skill.

Thanks for the tip, Tom.
