Tired Of Special Edition Releases…

July 25, 2007 by Scott

Is anyone else tired of Special edition releases? I buy a CD and 4 to 6 months later out comes a special edition with bonus tracks and videos. What really sucks is when you buy one and the bonus tracks are crappy live tracks and/or demos that should have been left in the studio.

Slayer will be releasing a special edition with previously unreleased tracks for Christ Illusion, KSE is going to release a S.E. of As Daylight Dies with a few more tracks and video in August. It just seems everytime you buy a CD out comes the special edition.

How about this, instead of ripping us off and making us buy a newer version of a cd just release a CD with the bonus material on it or just release everything the first time. And the record industry wonders why we still end up burning copies of CD for our friends, who’s ripping who off. I understand that band wants more money for their work but honestly how much money can they be making off of these so called Special Editions. Its just another money making scheme by the record labels. Who’s next?

Yea, I’m totally with you on this one. It really pisses me off to know that I’m missing out on some content that should’ve been on the copy that I bought in the first place or that I have to buy the entire thing over. Of course, if the normal and special editions are released simultaneously, I’m fine with that, and I’ll opt for the Special if it’s worth the extra few bucks.
