Top Ten 70’s And 80’s Guitar Solos
Ultimate-guitar.com has posted the top ten guitar solos of the 70’s and the 80’s. They bring up some good points, and while some or all of us may not agree with the top ten you have to admit that these are some killer solos. Here is an excerpt from the original article and the top ten. Click on the link at the bottom to read the full article.
“The definition of metal changes every decade as musicians continually push the genre to new extremes, writes Chris Gill of Gibson.com. But several elements have remained consistent throughout the years: distorted guitar, heavy riffs, and lightning-fast solos. Some of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded can be found on metal classics from the ’70s and ’80s, and many of those solos were recorded using Gibson guitars.
What makes a guitar solo great? While technical precision and speed are certainly important, a good solo should also be inventive and imaginative. The solo should support the song, and the best solos are ones that are so melodically strong that you can sing them while you wail away on your air guitar.“

I don’t really have any beefs with the list, and I don’t have any examples (except one) of my arguement but what about other brands of guitars, like Fender? Two words - Yngwie Malmsteen. and his Strat.

Yeah, I hate it when someone tries selling me quality merchandise! Especially when I can’t afford that quality merch. I want another Les Paul and not one of those shitty bottom line ones either, but first I may check out the world of 7 strings…
