What Would You Do If You Lost Your Hearing?
January 28, 2008 by Scott
The other day I was thinking about popping off a few rounds from a shotgun someone gave me and I had a thought about what my life would be like if I completely lost my hearing and couldn’t listen to music anymore. Honestly it would be devastating to me. It would take a fat chunk of my happiness away. I know I’m not the first person to think about this but it brought on a huge but short term of depression on to me.
I couldn’t play guitar. Well I guess I could, but why. Driving would suck more than it already does, especially during heavy traffic. I probably wouldn’t write for this blog anymore and that would make a few people happy. I mean it would just ruin my whole life. I’d still have my family and that would be my sole root of happiness but it just wouldn’t be the same.
If I had to give up one of my 5 senses I’d probably give up my taste. Sure it would suck, but it would make tequila go down a lot easier.

I also dread the thought of losing my hearing. Which is why I now wear ear-plugs at concerts, even though people take the piss. At the end of the day, I want to be able to keep going to concerts and enjoying them for the rest of my life – wearing plugs is a small price to pay, I’m thinking.
absolutely, Paul. I’ve been to shows in small venues where it was so loud where I was that I couldn’t enjoy the sound really.
I have thought about this sometimes, but I do not consider it as dramatic as loosing my legs or hands. It would be frustrating, but at least I could walk and do things with my hands, and what is the most important, I could see. becoming blind would be absolutely the worst choice.
Scott, I got an idea after reading your post. Check out what I wrote in my blog
