xDEATHSTARx

I was scanning through CD Warehouse today looking for something new and interesting, neither of which was easily found due to the massive amount of crap this place has. I was looking through the “D’s” to see what Danzig or Dream Theater CDs they had and I came across xDEATHSTARx ‘We Are The Threat’ on Facedown Records. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked to sample it. xDEATHSTARx is nothing new (been around for 6 years) or epic but they have a cool hardcore sound to them as if they got a lot of influence from Hatebreed. Basically if you dig Hatebreed you will dig xDEATHSTARx. With three singers you get a little bit of variety in the vocals. xDEATHSTARSx’s myspace introduces themselves as so:
xDEATHSTARx opened the floodgates in summer of 2002 after releasing their five-song demo, “Beware of the xDEATHSTARx” in 2003. The energy of their live performance and brutal musical style has put them at the forefront of the already booming So-Cal hardcore scene. Blending the sounds of At the Gates, Disembodied, and Hatebreed with lyrics that mirror their philosophy of positive living and heart-felt scene experience, their anthems are undeniably fierce, and so is their vision. This band is on a warpath to mark their place in the world. They bring a vast collective of musicianship to create a wall of sound that will leave you ravaged yet uplifted.
Below is a video of xDEATHSTARx live singing suffocate faster. If you like the hardcore sound then give them a listen at their Myspace.com/xDEATHSTARx. (p.s. It has a lot of Christian influence as well, so it’s not for everyone)

IMO any band that bookends their name with those goofy straightedge x’s is already scoring points against them in my book. I dunno, maybe it’s cuz when I listen to music I don’t like to be preached to… or i’m just a snarky asshole. I’m cool with either.
About 2 and a half years ago i been to a Facedown Records show at The Brewery in Raleigh, it was Seventh Star, War of Ages, Bloodlined Calligraphy, called to Arms opening the show and another fifth band which i don’t remember the time and it was one hell of a show. I,ve listen to a lot of Songs from this bands and there’s a lot of good songs.
Yeah, that Deathstar CD is pretty good. It has a heavy Hatebreed vibe to it. If your into madball I have a few older cd of theirs.
