I hate this guy. Ville Valo judging Metal Hammer’s Get In The Ring with Oderus Urungus from Gwar…WTF? You may as well have Lemmy judge a rap Battle. Ville is not metal, his band is not metal, hell, his belt buckle probably isn’t even metal. Come on Metal Hammer, you can find better hosts than Ville. I think I’m going to go throw up now.
Yeah not very metal at all. More rock/hard rock.
whats funny is i didn’t see the irony in this post until this morning and realized that i was judging what is metal and whats not in the post right after “Real” metal.
On a serious note…I need to stop putting this guys face and name out there…but I just love hating Him and HIM, so when I get a chance to bash….i do.
Wow, you sound a lot like the metal haters in my class. No real serious arguments, just, as you say, loving to hate it.
They come with statements as “It’s not music”, “It’s just noise”, “It blows. But this is just because, among them, it’s cool to hate it. They’re probably a little afraid they’ll like it if they try, but they’d just deny it ^^
There’s a lot of metalheads not wanting to admit enjoying pop music and trance at times, because “that’s not cool”.

I do, just look at him. I’m much older than you I’m sure and I listen to all sorts of music, but metal is my passion, and HIM is not metal. Hard rock maybe…maybe. But not metal.
I’m sure your so open minded that you like all music and every band out there and there is no music or band that you don’t like…right?
It’s hard to define what metal is. Look at the hair-metal bands of the 80’s. I wouldn’t exactly call most of them any more metal than HIM.
And of course there are artists and bands I don’t like, but I’m not being a bitch about it just because I can.

Wow. Think you’re the first person to ever get upset at my opinion? No. I actually like some of HIM’s music, but it’s not any more metal than Avenged Sevenfold or Britney Spears for that matter.
HIM is the best band in the world. Period. Who cares what freakin label you give it? Anyway, it’s LOVE METAL and you don’t think it’s the best then you haven’t listened enough. Go back and actually listen for once. You can bang your head if you want to, and you will come to your senses. HIM can out rock any band, they just enjoy making real music instead of just bangin! Metal Hammer knows this…
I just think he’s hot.. it’s not so much the music I’m talking about. The music is ok. I don’t give a fuck if it’s metal or not. I’m not that much into metal anyway xD

I respect that you don’t like the band. But you don’t have to spread it out to everyone. I like HIM, but still I accept that some people doesn’t. You say you listen to many sorts of music, and your only argument for not liking HIM is: “It’s not metal.” WTF? Just so you know it, HIM is love metal, and that genre is more “soft” kind of than regular metal. Do a little bit research before you judge anything.
Wait just a fucking minute, this post just caugh my eye, first of all, all you Him lovers ask any real metal fan if Him is metal or not and see what they say. Second of all, Love Metal? love metal is not metal genre, except by the urban diccionary, but thats just a stupid term they invented, love metal is the title of one of Him’s albums, so for those suggesting others to research about HIM, you do. so Danny Manson, how old are you? ….no matter how fucking old are you, but i probably like and know and understand more different kinds of music than you do, so shut the up and learn more shit before you open your mouth. if a metal head see somebody that people say that is metal and is not, we just hate it, so what. as far comments like, as best band in the world or do a little bit of research you guys need to grow up a little bit, maybe with time. Also as far as being afraid of admitting that i like other kinds of music, i’m not. Anyway Him’s music is Progressive Rock/ hard rock.
I would say that whatever genre you call H.I.M. (I call it ‘Death Emo’), it does fit into the metal pantheon. I also love it, and Ville is a sexy beast. Rawr!
Also, I meant to mention, is I’m a real metal fan, and a real MUSIC fan. From Dream Theater to Tool to Pink Floyd to The Beatles to Motorhead, Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, A7X, H.I.M., KISS (some, only a little). ANGRA, ffs.
I love HIM but you’re right, Ville Valo shouldn’t be judging this. It’s more alternative rock then metal.

regardless of whether HIM is metal or not, the guy no doubt listens to lots of metal. I see no reason why he cant be a judge. I dont see how it matters whether or not his own band is metal enough. what, you think he will accidentally give a prize to britnet speers or something?
